I think your next family session should happen at home.

When I think about my childhood, I remember being sardined into the living room watching Harry Potter with all my sisters, the dance parties to Lil Wayne and AC/DC in the basement, and catching frogs in the pond across the road.

Some of my favourite photos now are from those ordinary places. At the time, the house was just the background. Now, it’s half the reason I love them.

I’m not a parent, but I am the eldest of 7 and I know how much I value the photos from all the different chapters in our lives.

So give me the toys on the floor, the favourite book, the snack breaks, and the way your kids look at you like you hung the moon.

One day, the background will be the photograph. 🤎

There’s just something about photographing a family in the place where their life actually happens.

Making cookies in the kitchen. Sisters being sisters. The dog somehow making herself the main character. Little hands on a growing belly. All the tiny, ordinary things that probably don’t feel particularly important right now.

I love a beautiful field and a golden sunset as much as anyone, but sessions like this have such a special place in my heart.

Because years from now, it won’t just be what everyone looked like that you remember. It’ll be this kitchen. This couch. This dog. This version of home.

And I think that’s pretty damn worth documenting. 🤍

The kind of love that doesn’t mind getting a little muddy. 🌿

Barefoot in the river, soaked jeans, water fights, stolen kisses and absolutely no concern for keeping the outfits clean. This is what I mean when I say your photos don’t have to feel like a photoshoot.

Come with me, wander somewhere beautiful, play a little, get weird, get wet and let me document whatever happens in between.

This one felt like summer nostalgia in real time. 🤎

It was watching a little girl become a big sister.

The bottle.
The forehead kisses.
The tiny hands trying so hard to help.

These aren’t just newborn photos.
They’re the beginning of a lifelong friendship.
