Water levels update – Whitson River, Val Caron (April 24, 2026)

I went back out today to check on the Whitson River after the recent flooding, and there’s some good news. The water has started to recede and is slowly making its way back toward the riverbanks.

That said, levels are still considerably higher than normal, and there’s still a lot of runoff moving through the system. We’re not out of the woods just yet, but this is definitely a step in the right direction.

I’ve included new drone footage and photos from today so you can see the difference.

I appreciate the interest in this footage and understand the importance of safety around active industrial sites. For clarity, this was captured using a sub-250g drone, operated from a legal location, by a licensed operator and in accordance with Transport Canada guidelines. While some shots may appear closer, zooming and cropping were used to achieve that perspective. Safety is always my top priority.

Sudbury’s Disappearing Landmark

April 20, 2026 — Spent some time in Copper Cliff today capturing the progress as the Inco/Vale Superstack continues to come down.

For decades, it stood as a symbol of Sudbury’s mining history. Seeing it being dismantled piece by piece really marks the end of an era and highlights how far we’ve come with modern, cleaner practices.

Pushing the limits of low-light performance! 🌙✨ I took the drone out at dusk to see how it would handle the challenging mix of deep shadows and bright city lights. I’m honestly blown away by how crisp this footage stayed even as the sun went down.
