Black & white at a reception doesn’t just change the color… it shifts the way the moment feels.
Without color, distractions fall away. What’s left is contrast, movement, expression. A laugh becomes sharper. A glance feels more intentional. The noise of the room quiets visually, even if the party is loud.

Color shows the atmosphere.
Black & white reveals the structure underneath it.
Both tell the story, just in different languages.

Most mothers think they’ll always remember this season — the kicks, the anticipation, the quiet moments before everything changes. But pregnancy passes faster than anyone expects, and photos become the only way to return to that feeling years later✨️
Here are a few things I always tell expecting mothers when planning their maternity session:
1. Choose a location that feels like a memory.
Gardens, quiet beaches, forests, or meaningful places, or even a beautiful inspiring studio to create photos that feel timeless. When the location holds emotion, the images always feel more alive.

2. Movement makes photos feel real.
Walking slowly, holding your belly, leaning into your partner, laughing naturally — the best maternity images come from spontaneous moments, not stiff posing.

3. Include the people who are part of this chapter.
Partners, siblings, even quiet moments alone. These connections tell the story of the family your baby is about to enter.

4. Don’t wait until the very end.
The sweet spot for maternity sessions is usually around 28–34 weeks — when the bump is beautifully defined but you still feel comfortable enough to move and enjoy the experience.

The goal of a maternity session isn’t perfection.
It’s preserving the quiet anticipation before everything changes.
Because one day, these images won’t just show pregnancy…
they’ll show where your family’s next chapter began.
