Did you know that the Jindo is South Korea's 53rd Natural Treasure? 🐾

Named after Jindo Island where they originate, these dogs are known for their loyalty, intelligence, and independence. They've been part of Korean culture for centuries.

And yet, like so many dogs in South Korea, Jindos can end up abandoned, in high-kill shelters, or on the streets. Adopt Korean Rescue works to change that, rescuing Jindos and many other dogs and finding them loving homes in Canada and the US.

We're in the middle of a fundraising contest that goes directly toward this work. If you have a Korean rescue dog in your life - Jindo or otherwise - we'd love to see them in the 2027 AKR Calendar. Link in bio. 🐾

Meet Cherry 🍒🐾

Cherry is a four-year-old shepherd mix who came to Adopt Korean Rescue after a difficult start in South Korea. She’s been waiting the longest of any dog in AKR’s care — their longest resident — and she is still patiently hoping for her forever home.

She loves playing with other dogs, is a healthy eater, and is described as smart and super adorable. She’s shy with people at first and needs time and patience to build trust but for the right family, that patience will be everything.

This is why the 2027 AKR Calendar Contest matters. Every vote, every dollar raised goes directly toward rescue work like Cherry’s - from the moment a dog is identified in South Korea to the day they arrive safely in Canada or the US.

Some dogs have had to wait a long time to find their way home.

Adopt Korean Rescue helps dogs in South Korea find families in Canada and the US.

AKR is 100% volunteer-run, and every dollar raised through the calendar contest we’re running throughout May goes directly toward this rescue work.

As the owner of Korean rescue (mine’s the one in the right with the wonky ear!) its really meaningful for me to be partnering with them on this.
