I love the colours of the fall, the oranges, browns and reds. Probably one of my favourite seasons. (One of my FOUR favourite seasons 😋)

For the last few days of October I had to go down to Vancouver. And while those colours of fall are almost gone in the Yukon down in they were just beginning

Now back up in the Yukon it is cold but still no snow. That means I get to enjoy those shades of brown a little longer 🙂

Wolves, a hungry grizzly, almost a 100 caribou and a snowstorm that kept us in camp for a day.

This is where I feel most alive. This is why I care about my food, about my cloths…

These places, these wild souls need us to look out for them. To protect them. To tell their stories.

Our choices matter. And we are our only hope to keep this planet alive. For the children of our children.

I remember that morning. The first light cutting through the curtains. Her silhouette against the city.

A monkey running on the power lines and beaten surfboards waiting for the first waves. The pulse of something I couldn’t name. The city was just waking up.

Love’s a funny thing.

It lifts you up, breaks you open, then leaves you standing in the quiet trying to remember who you were before.

It can make a home out of chaos than set fire to that home while you’re still inside.

This is for you 😋

When we were stalking Jaguars, Caiman and bizarre bird species down in Brazil I regularly got really excited about the cows and gauchos.

It became a running joke that I’d celebrate the cows more than the really iconic species. But for me this was just alive with the everyday Brazil.

The conversations around the campfire were often a bit whack… but we laughed a lot 😂 .mather.photography

Days were spent hauling heavy camera packs through no man’s land until our knees gave in. over and over again.
Evenings, we ate like kings.

A few satellite messages came through that made me roll around on my air mattress when I should’ve been sleeping.
Pros and cons of our “connected” world…

And then one night, I spent half an hour on a windswept ridge with a lone caribou bull.
Just the two of us and the storm.

We headed into the mountains for 5 days. We that’s .mather.photography and me. Half an hour in and after that only silence…

We were on a mission to find and film the woodland caribou during rutting season. Swipe left if you want to know if we ever did.

It was stunning to be in a place where trails were only carved by caribou hooves. Over untouched mountains and through steep valleys.

These places form the last frontier. They are one of a kind and we should do our best to preserve them. For the sake of our children. For the sake of the children of our children. And for the sake of these wild animals…

The fall in the North is probably my favourite season (though I think I say that about every season 😉)

But I love the colours, the clouds, the mood… it’s just too bad that it only lasts about one week before winter hits 😋

Out in the Pantanal, life felt like an explosion of claws and teeth, colours and sound.

A hyacinth macaw guarding his tree nest.
An enormous cayman waiting on the river’s edge.
Monkeys moving like shadows through the vines.

The trees burst in pink and yellow, and the sunset looked like a movie scene.

Such a contrast to the North where silence reigns, and the animals are almost invisible.

Dragons, Beetles, Coconuts, Caribbean ocean and even monkeys….

I love all the way up North in the Yukon. The contrast between the two places could not be bigger. Many things are definitely easier down south.

But I also had to deal with corrupt cops twice in one week and so much traffic …
