From newborn snuggles to holding Dad’s finger while she learns to walk. 🥹🤍

The last time I saw this sweet family, their little girl was brand new. Now she’s ONE and busy figuring out this whole walking thing… excuse me, how did that happen so fast?!

I absolutely love this photo. Just Dad’s hand reaching into the frame and one tiny hand wrapped around his finger, helping her find her balance. Such a simple little detail, but it says so much about this stage of life.

And this is exactly why you don’t need to wait until your baby is confidently walking, sitting perfectly, or hitting the “right” milestone before booking photos. The in-between stages are some of the sweetest ones to document. Before long, she won’t need that finger anymore. 😭

It was so much fun having this crew back in the studio, and getting to see how much she’s changed since her newborn session was the absolute best.

And just like that… they’re almost empty nesters. 🥹🤍 (Thankfully, the dog isn’t going anywhere.)

I’ve had the privilege of photographing this wonderful family year after year for such a long time, and now their youngest has graduated and is heading off to university. How does that even happen?!

We spent this session tucked into the ferns and forest at Queen Elizabeth Park, with lots of laughing, hugging, and the kind of big love that comes from a family that’s been through so many chapters together.

I can only imagine how bittersweet this next one will feel for Mom and Dad. So incredibly proud of the two humans they’ve raised, while also adjusting to a home that’s suddenly going to feel a whole lot quieter.

And this is one of the reasons I’m such a believer in taking family photos as your kids get older. We tend to document EVERYTHING when they’re little, and then somehow the photos slow down as they grow up. But these chapters matter just as much.

So yes, wrangle those teenagers and grown kids together for the photo shoot. One day, you’ll be very glad you did. 🤍

And THIS is why I always keep my camera ready. 🥹🤍

We were at the beach documenting this sweet girl’s second birthday when she suddenly reached up, took Mom’s face in both of her tiny hands, and gave us this.

No prompting. No posing. Just pure, ridiculously adorable love.

After 16 years of photographing families, I’ve learned to watch little ones closely and anticipate what might happen next. Kids move FAST, and these tiny gestures can be over in a second. Being ready for them is such a big part of what I do.

And that’s also why you don’t need to worry about your toddler “cooperating” for family photos. Let them move, explore, cuddle, and be themselves. I’ll be watching for the good stuff. 😉

I’m so grateful my timing was right for this one because I have a feeling it’s going to mean even more to this family as their little girl grows.

I haven’t even finished editing this session yet, but this one was too sweet not to share right away. 🤍

This was my first session with this sweet family, and we spent our time at the beach playing, snuggling, laughing, and letting their adorable eight-month-old steal the show.

I absolutely love this age. So much personality is starting to come out, those little expressions change by the second, and babies are usually pretty happy just being cuddled up with Mom and Dad.

And if you’re worried your baby won’t look at the camera or “cooperate” for photos, please don’t be. They don’t need to! Some of the sweetest images happen when everyone forgets about me for a minute and simply loves on their little one.

Sometimes Mother Nature gives us a little extra. 🤍⛵

This sweet couple showed up for their maternity session with the biggest smiles, their adorable pup, and so much love for each other. Then we spotted something completely unexpected…

A sailboat had washed up on the beach after the storm the night before.

It’s not every day you get a photo prop like that! We took full advantage of the moment, and it made this session feel even more unique. I love when a little bit of spontaneity turns into something you’ll never be able to recreate.

Add in the Vancouver skyline, the mountains, a happy dog, and two people counting down the days until they meet their baby, and it made for such a fun evening.

If you’ve been thinking about maternity photos, let’s create something that’s beautifully you… and if we happen to get a surprise washed up on the beach, we’ll roll with that too. 😉 Link in bio.

6 years can change a lot. 🤍

When I met up with this family again at one of my favourite beach locations, the first thing we all said was, “How has it been six years already?!”

The girls had grown up so much. One is graduating this year, and it was actually the other daughter who suggested it was time for updated family photos. I have to say… I think she was onto something. 🥹

They were so fun to hang out with, I had them skipping, twirling, snuggling, laughing, and simply enjoying being together. It felt less like a photo shoot and more like catching up with old friends while hanging out at the beach.

I think one of the biggest misconceptions is that your family has to change in a huge way before it’s worth booking another session. But the little changes quietly add up. Suddenly your kids are taller, their personalities have evolved, and somehow 6 years have slipped by in the blink of an eye.

I’m so grateful we got to capture this chapter together before the next one begins.

Can we all agree that confidence looks good on everyone? ❤️🤍

This session was such a blast. Vintage pin-up vibes, beach balls, red and white checkers, Vancouver showing off in the background… and one absolutely gorgeous human who decided to celebrate herself.

I’m so proud of my friend Pamm Olivia West for choosing to step in front of the camera, embrace this version of herself, and have so much fun doing it. Sometimes a photo session isn’t just about the photos. It’s about reminding yourself that you’re allowed to take up space, feel beautiful, and do things simply because they make you happy.

And yes… we laughed a lot. 😊

If you’ve ever wanted to do a session just for you, consider this your little nudge. You don’t need a special occasion. You already are one.

I couldn’t wait for this gallery to be finished before sharing this one. 💜

This beautiful family is still choosing their favourite images, and honestly… I don’t blame them one bit.

Choosing photos of the people you love is hard. Every smile, every cuddle, every little expression means something, and suddenly narrowing it down feels almost impossible.

I know whichever images they choose are going to be treasured for years to come, but this one deserved an early appearance on my feed. The lavender, the connection, the love… I just couldn’t keep it to myself.

I can’t wait to share more from this gorgeous session.

If you’ve been thinking about updating your family photos, I’d love to create something you’ll have a hard time choosing between too. 💛 Link in bio.

Families don’t all look the same… and I think that’s a beautiful thing. 🤍

This wonderful crew reminded me that family isn’t about how your story begins. It’s about the people who choose to love, support, and show up for each other every single day.

From the moment we met at the beach, it was obvious how naturally they fit together. The kids were laughing, teasing each other, happily jumping into photos (even the older ones!), and the whole session felt easy and full of genuine connection.

One thing I hear sometimes is, “We’re waiting until things settle down.”

But family doesn’t have to look a certain way or reach some imaginary milestone before it’s worth documenting. This is your family’s story, exactly as it is today, and that’s more than enough.

I’m so glad they chose to celebrate this chapter together, because years from now these photos won’t just remind them what everyone looked like. They’ll remind them how it felt to be building this life together.

There is just something magical about maternity sessions in the lavender fields. 💜

Between the soft purple blooms, the laughter, and these two completely smitten with each other, this session felt so easy. They spent the session laughing, sneaking little hugs. I hope they are soaking in these last quiet weeks before life gets beautifully turned upside down.

I’m so excited for them as they get ready to meet their little one. What a lucky baby to be joining this sweet family.

Congratulations again, you two. I can’t wait to see what this next chapter has in store for you. 🤍

If you’re expecting and would love maternity photos that feel natural, relaxed, and full of connection, I’d love to help. Link in bio ⬆️
