Greg Girard Books & Box Sets "City of Darkness Revisited" expands and updates the original "City of Darkness: Life in Kowloon Walled City", first published in 1993.

Vancouver-born Greg Girard has been photographing cities and city life in China, Hong Kong, Japan, Southeast Asia and other countries and territories since 1974. Published books include "City of Darkness Revisited", "Phantom Shanghai", "In the Near Distance", "Hanoi Calling" and "City of Darkness: Life in Kowloon Walled City'.

Speaking of the Kowloon Walled City, some years back a curious homage to the Walled City appeared in Japan, in Kawasaki, near Tokyo. Called "Warehouse Kawasaki", located near Kawasaki Station, it was a retro game arcade with a multi-level interior inspired by and to a large degree copied from the actual Kowloon Walled City. (We included some pictures that Ian took of Warehouse Kawaski in "City of Darkness Revisited"). Warehouse Kawasaki closed a couple of weeks ago, now a memory too: a memory of a memory. Recent article in Forbes pays tribute:

Hong Kong’s legendary city-within-a-city lived on in an arcade in Japan, but now it’s gone too.
