Everything came together perfectly for E + D's wedding ❤️ The night before, Vernon was placed on evacuation alert while it snowed ash/debris from the fire, highway 97 was closed and I wasn't sure if that would affect Larch Hills, and it was forecasting rain during the ceremony. Instead, the evacuation alert was rescinded, and the weather/light was ideal! Grateful to have been able to capture the magic between these two! ✨

I will not be celebrating Canada day this year. I've felt a great unease with it for the last ten years or so. Having lived and worked in Indigenous communities for a decade and hearing first hand accounts about the experiences folks had at residential "school", it doesn't sit well to celebrate genocide and the ongoing systemic racism and violence that continues to affect them today. There are many things we settlers can do - I've shared posts in my stories with calls to action. 

Today I am mourning with my Indigenous friends and neighbours, and celebrating Indigenous resilience instead 🧡
