Beacon Hill Park, Victoria BC

While I was taking photos of an osprey fighting off an eagle, a little girl from the petting zoo ran up to me and said, "You might want to see this? There's an owl in the tree eating a rat!"
I tried to frame the shot to leave out the rat, as I really wanted the focus to be on the beauty of the owl contrasted against the tree. I'm very happy with how this photo of this beautiful young owl turned out!

This shot was taken in 2024. I wasn't there to specifically take a shot of the cruise ship, but the lighting was starting to change, and I felt like I only had one chance at getting the shot, and that's what I happened to get.

Kids Playing in the Backyard

As I was cleaning up my backyard in the fall of 2020, I noticed that the spiders were out in full force, preparing for the winter as well. Seizing any opportunity to avoid yard work, I grabbed my camera. I made a photo study of one particularly industrious spider who was thoughtful enough to build their web in a beautiful splash of light.
