when I describe my style of photography as documentary, this is what I mean!

I love to genuinely connect with the families or couples that I’m capturing so that they’re more comfortable being themselves. I try to create a super fun and laid back environment and just let them do their thing. Wanna run around in the backyard? Let’s do it. Wanna dance around in the living room? Heck yes!! I’m up for anything!

I like to think of this as a super authentic and organic style of photography - just capturing little moments as they unfold!

Family sessions have become one of my favourites to capture nowadays. It’s so meaningful to be able to photograph families fun and intimate moments together, and it is always a super fun time. Because I’ve been so fortunate to photograph family sessions, I figured I’d share some of my best tips on how to plan for one!

1. Plan a fun day around the session! - I always recommend all my couples or families to plan a fun activity before or after the photoshoot such as grabbing ice cream, going out for dinner, etc. This way, you’re not stressing about the photos and you get to make a fun day out of it.

2. Wear comfortable clothes and shoes you can run around in! - This is especially important for families with small children.

3. Bring snacks and toys.

4. Talk to your photographer beforehand about what you envision for your family session. Create a moodboard or save inspo photos and share them with your photographer. This is a great way for them to see what kind of pictures most appeal to you and your comfort level with certain photos as well.

5. Have fun! My favourite way to get the absolute best family photos is to have fun, run around, play, and to capture sweet moments organically without posing.
