My photographic journey started in high school with a film camera gifted by my family. During the time spent pursuing an advanced degree in pedagogical studies, creative inspiration was always present. Deep interest in language as verbal expression, and appreciation of art directed my aspiration into exploring photography as another means of communication through visual composition

. The nine years spent working as a translator in the naval engineering and shipbuilding industry developed the scientific processes required to build the technical skills essential to photography. I currently pursue photography full time while volunteering as a facilitator in a conversational English group for new immigrants. Exposure to people of various cultures who are trying to communicate in a common language has broadened my observation of the human experience. These social interactions have deepened my sense of empathy and strengthened my ability to develop nuance and sensitivity in the images that I attempt to represent.
