Some shots from last month, searching for solitude and sipping on cocktails. Mare by my friends right here at home, with handcrafted gin and locally-sourced botanicals. You can now find them in private liquor stores across B.C. and they are so so good! Happy Sunday and happy sipping! @ Vancouver Island, Canada

I have been really disconnected from my camera lately as my focus has been flowing elsewhere. I have been taking this recent time to get behind the lens again and edit photos old and new. It’s become a really nice distraction from the stress around the state of the world and my never ending COVID to-do list full of new projects (and many unfinished ones). I have to remind myself to appreciate the lazy mornings unapologetically, making sure to get outside for a few breaths of fresh air and finding gratitude in the “small” things that often get taken for granted. Many of our frontline workers and others in the community do not have the same opportunities as those of us self isolating to do our part. So here is a collection of photos I’ve been working on for in between those moments over the past week. I hope you are all staying as happy and healthy as possible during these crazy times! @ Home Sweet Home

I know for all of us, the world as we know it, has been flipped upside down. But as I turn one year older today, I can’t help but feel grateful that I get the opportunity to celebrate another lap around the sun in one of my favourite places in the whole wide world- home.

Originally I had planned to spend the week with my friends , searching for surf and hiking to remote regions of Northern Vancouver Island. Due to the importance of social distancing and doing our part in keeping ourselves and our communities safe, we have undoubtedly decided to cancel the trip. It is important to stay close to home and not to travel through remote communitites at this time, limiting contact with others as much as possible. So I will be taking this as an opportunity to explore my own backyard (literally-stay tuned for my backyard birthday campout) and recognize now more than ever, what a privilege it is to have a home hideout, tucked away in the woods with safe access to the outdoors. I understand not everyone has the same opportunities and I can only imagine how hard these times can be be! There is a lot of anxiety in the air lately, so if you're able to get some fresh air safely, I highly recommend you do so keeping in mind the following:

-Avoid popular parks and beaches.
-refrain from activities that could put you at risk for injury, as resources and medical professionals are already overwhelmed.
-Follow government and social distancing guidelines.
-Follow regulations set by Parks Canada.
With those considerations, earlier this week I set off to kayak to an uninhabited little island only a 4km paddle away from my home. It was one of the most beautiful nights as the sky turned the town and mountains in the distance pink, as if for a moment we were seeing the world through rose coloured glasses. I am excited to share the photos from this trip and as many jobs are cancelled or put on hold, I am grateful for those who continue to support my little business during this time.

With that said I am stoked to be doing a takeover of my week in self isolation over so come check out how I’m my own backyard this week! Stay safe!

I’ve always had a restless spirit. Finding places amongst the unknown that felt more like home than the one I’ve ever known. Exactly a year ago today I was frantically trying to sell as much as of my stuff as possible before taking off on another last minute adventure. I sold almost everything I hoped for at 5$ or 10$ a piece and packed my bag full of peanut butter for a month of backpacking through the mountains of Patagonia. My backpack weighed nearly 50 pounds, it was nuts!! 🥜With four days of sleepless travel it's safe to say I was eager to get into the mountains upon arriving to El Chaltén. With all kinds of bookings from flights, to hotels and activities, the is great for accessing and managing your itinerary from anywhere anytime, even sans wifi, which was often the case down south. So I am excited to partner up with to offer 10% off your next hotel booking! Head to the link in my bio and download the free mobile app and use code EXPEDIA10 to save. Happy travelling amigos! 🌍🌞🏔

This code is valid for booking until 31st March on travels from now until 31st July. You can read more the terms&conditions for this on Expedia’s website - See link in the comments.

Jazz and I walked about 10km around the city yesterday, running errands and stopping for tacos. Along our way an older gentleman asked me how many weeks old my puppy was. He was shocked to hear that today she’d be turning 14 years old and I seriously find it hard to believe myself sometimes! I am so incredibly grateful for each and every one of you that made memories with us over the years. I will cherish them forever and ever ❤️ In the meantime, it’s time to spoil the old girl! @ Victoria, British Columbia

Dear 2019,
Holy s**t. What a year you were.
I’m not sure how you were the best and the worst year of my life all in one,
But if any year could do it, it was you 2019.
But with that, you have brought me great growth.
I have learned how to appreciate what I will gain from my hardships,
instead of focussing on what I will lose.
You have taught me
That I am a product of my environment,
And I can become whoever I want to be by changing it.
That with each ebb and flow of life,
I can choose who I am and who I will become.
That the more I learn about the world,
the more I have to unlearn about myself,
my behaviours and my biases.
With that said, I am ready to close your chapter, 2019,
And begin the next.
