You may cast a vote! Requires a sign up to do so. Lots of amazing night sky images, including one from Jonathan Sau Photography.

“Killarney Star Rise” is one of the five images I submitted to this year’s Capture the Dark photo competition. It is organized by Dark Sky International, an organization dedicated to protecting the night sky through education, advocacy and more.

In addition to awards determined by a judging panel, there is also a People’s Choice award. You can vote for my entries by going to https://capturethedark.darksky.org/contest2026/gallery, and search for “Jonathan”. You’ll find all my entries in the search result. You do need to create an account in order to vote. You can cast a maximum of 3 votes.

(And if you decide to vote for other images, that’s totally fine by me! :) )

Good to know. Would have to be actively scooping stuff from the bottom of water bodies to find one of these. Just don't put it back, unless you find it in Europe where it comes from.

This little fish might look harmless but actually this is an invasive species called the Round Goby. They are quite detrimental to our aquatic ecosystem on Georgian bay since they eat many of the eggs of our sport fish and they can greatly alter the numbers of other species.

If you come across a Round Goby the protocol is to NOT release it back into the water body.

Main ID features:
🐟 Prominent black spot on dorsal fin
🐟 Fused pelvic fin which is different from native species of fish.

Visited Toronto Outdoor Art Festival on the last day, a beautiful day. It was hot. It was sunny. And it was great to be there. What a great venue.

Here's just some pics I took. I know some of the artists and remembered to take a photo with Elvan K Suzer and a video of Harry Kooy with the skull operated by a little visitor, and finally a capture of supportive family. Kudos to all the artists as it takes great talent to get in. Congrats to JS for success at his first ever TOAF. It won't be his last!

Walked and bussed around Edinburgh, the limitation being how much my feet could take. We stayed on Rose Street of Edinburgh, a famous pedestrianized street in the historic Georgian New Town which is a UNESCO site.

Here are a few snaps from my phone. Scott Monument pic of course for our son Scott.

By the end of our almost month long UK trip, I was in so much pain I decided the culprit was my uncomfortable new hiking shoes. I finished the trip in crocs! So much better!
