SUNDAYS STORIES
Narcissism is defined by extreme selfishness, with a grandiose view of one's own talents and a craving for admiration, as characterizing a personality type. Excessive or erotic interest in oneself and one's physical appearance.
This sounds a lot like Instagram and other social media platforms and even dating sites and apps. Do you post every time you go to the gym? Or spend a lot of time in front of a mirror? Are all your posts and updates about yourself?
I heard the other day on the radio that when someone posts all the time about having a good work out they are more likely to be narcissists. Has our world become so obsessed with what we look like? Don't get me wrong, being healthy is a great thing! But where is the line of being healthy and/or obsessive? Another gym or workout selfie? Are trying to motivate people or trying to gain likes? Are you portraying this perfect life? If you are or not even meaning to but are, you're lying.
No ones life is perfect. No ones relationship is perfect but it seems everyone is trying to portray that their life is perfect and everything is alright. I don't want just alright, I want amazing! But amazing comes with hard work and down times. I had a wonderful talk with someone this evening about relationships and how fighting isn't a bad thing. Not fist fights, but arguments and disagreements. It's communication which is good. Don't treat them poorly though during it or yell and swear but you can have healthy fights if you want to call them that. Show emotion. I feel bad for the people who don't have any hard times or try to portray perfection, I feel more for the kids of those parents. We only grow and learn through hard times. Don't give up because a fight or thing it's bad, learn and grow from it and work together instead of against each other.
A tree is only strengthened by the storms it encounters.
