The NORA Project is so honoured to announce that One At A Time Rescue will be the recipient of the 2022 project donations, totaling $700.

This rescue works tirelessly, to care for dogs (and cats) in need by providing foster homes, transportation, vaccinations and many more services that do not go unnoticed. If you have room in your life for a fur friend, please take a moment to consider some of their animals that are in need of loving homes.

To the friends, families and dogs that have supported the NORA Project this past year, I thank you. Your donations will changes the lives of these animals and provide many comforts through the holidays.

To Nora, I think of you often and miss your presence daily. Please know that you remain one of the greats, and your spirit will forever live on through this project.

A message from Kane's rescue and foster family;

"Kane was a very sweet 3 year old rescue boy who loved everyone. He was part of Southwestern Manitoba Animal Rescue Team, and was going to be adopted by his foster mom once he got better. Sadly, he got worse, and was diagnosed with late stage cancer.

He was really gentle and smart. He was about 90lbs and could be handled by a senior lady because he was such a gentleman. He was always by his foster mom's side and happy to jump in the car whenever she left the house, and enjoyed going for many walks. He was the best boy."

Featuring DIESEL

Words from Momma;

“Diesel is our first fur baby that we adopted over four years ago from a local animal rescue.

He instantly became our shadow and protector. Following us around from working in the field, checking cows, hanging out on the couch, or snuggling in bed. He always has to be able to keep an eye on his family.

Diesel loves to go for walks, belly rubs, and snuggle up between us in bed. He captures the hearts of everyone he meets with his vocal excitement and big face licks.

We could not have asked for a more perfect fur baby. Our love for Diesel is never ending and we continue to cherish every moment with him.”

A note from Roxi’s family;

Our Roxi girl came into our lives at 8 weeks old. From the moment we saw her, Mom knew that she was the newest member of our family. Although we set her down to meet the other puppies, Dad knew exactly where she was the whole time. Roxi stole our hearts right from that first meeting.

Roxi began her life as Mom’s dog. She spent the first years of her life faithful and loyal to Mom. Once Mom got pregnant, Roxi quickly realized life was going to be different and spent the remainder of her years following Dad from room to room, forever at his side.

Roxi was an old soul and mother from the beginning. She made it her job to look after everyone that was in her life. She looked after our Rayne, Jersey and the countless foster puppies that came into our home over the years. Roxi looked after our boys making sure they were never out of sight while playing outdoors and always alerting family whenever there was a visitor. She had a big bark, that would quickly dissolve into a waggy bum with every pat.

Roxi began each outside play by rolling in the grass, snow or mud. Which quickly earned her a middle name, Roxi “Roller”Mullen. Roxi lived for playing ball. She would play until exhaustion hit, but was unwilling to stop. She loved to play keep away from her other fur friends whenever the opportunity arose. If there was water to swim in, Roxi would dive right in and go for a swim in true Labrador fashion.

We are so thankful to The Nora Project for capturing these photos of our Roxi girl. We left a piece of our hearts behind when we said goodbye to our sweet girl but having these photos reminds us that even though she is no longer here, our love & the joy she brought continues with our memories of her.

A word from Boone’s family;

“Boone is from a breeder outside of Manitoba. Stew always wanted to name a dog Boone. He travelled outside of Manitoba to a breeder and brought her home via carrier in an airplane.

She was loved by all with the exception of the cat who welcomed her with a swipe on the nose.

Boone loves to walk, so much so, that she hangs on every word until she hears the word "walk" and runs to the door.

She is the navigational beacon on the kayak at the lake. Much to the chagrin of Carol, she digs and buries her "treasures" in the backyard. While she was bred to hunt and retrieve, she is neither, however, a recent family of squirrels at the cottage has sparked her instinct.

Boone is extremely protective of her owners and her home. She loves to please and reconciles her misdemeanors very quickly.
Boone and the cat share a love/hate relationship and most recently have been coexisting in the same room particularly the kitchen where food is involved.

Boone's eyes project a want of constant affection and she receives way too many treats just for her good looks. We all love her and the love that she gives us.”

Lola’s hoomans sharing a memo;

Lola is a rescue from Ontario. Since the moment she got home the bond between her and Ryley was one that could never be shaken.

Lola loves to be outdoors and could spend all day laying in the sun regardless of the season. She loves to be free and explore trails in the Lake of the Woods area, her favourite place being Abernathy Lake.

Everyone who meets Lola falls in love with her kindness and calm demeanour. She is extremely spoiled from her human “grandparents” and loves visiting both homes!

Our love will never end for Lola and we treasure everyday with her!

A few words from Hailey’s fur MOMMA;

Hailey is a kind and gentle soul who is loved by everyone who meets her. She has been a loyal and constant companion for nearly 13 years now.

She was diagnosed with a mass in her chest recently and it’s unclear how much longer we’ll have her in this realm; weeks, months, years, it’s unknown.

Until then, we are soaking up every second with with this sweet girl, giving her all the love, walks, and treats that she likes, praying for as much time as possible.

A message from the humans that stand behind RUBY;

Our Sweet Ruby, you were taken too early from us. We found out Ruby had bone cancer about a month ago and knew we wouldn’t have her for much longer. She isn’t in pain now but has left us with heavy hearts. We will miss you everyday, Ruby.
