They say the eyes are a windows to the soul. What do you see when you look at mine?
If I was able to playback a highlight reel of what these eyes have seen throughout my life you would be able to see some of the most amazing things ever but also some of the worst. And I continue to add new highlights regularly.
Ive been told I have the 'eye of an artist' or 'the photographers eye'. I just like to observe and be aware of what's happening around me. Wether its the little red beetle I saw crawling on a leaf this morning or the body language of two strangers interacting with each other. I just notice things. Almost without thinking. And Im not afraid to take an extra second to take it in.
I believe its this trait that has allowed me to grow as an artist and photographer and has helped me capture the moments, feelings, and vibes of others. It's odd sometimes to think of that intimate connection I have shared with others by looking through my viewfinder and clicking a button. Odd, but amazing.
Recently I started thinking about how I have thousands of those captured moments saved digitally with most never being seen by anyone else's eyes but my own. Also a very odd thought. This has prompted me to start thinking about ways to share more of those photos and memories with others.
Im actively going to start sorting through all the photos I have taken, and making prints of all the best (in my eyes). Im also going to plan some shoots that I've been meaning to plan for a while, to add to the mix. Over the course of this summer I also plan to get more comfortable with creating video content that fits into the same vibe as my photography. When all is said and done (or maybe even throughout the process), I am planning to publicly show these photos and videos in a show which will allow people to see and react to these images that i have captured and curated for them. Im not going to rush it. But it is going to happen.
On that note.... I will be looking for some people to get in front of my lens over the summer (and beyond) for this 'project'.
