There are few times in one life when they find a true passion in their lives. I found mine behind a camera. I see the world differently than most. I see the beauty in simple things. I also see complex situations that others don't see. To be able to capture single moments in time and have those moments come back to mean so much to so many.
I started taking photos of FLAT Track Motorcycle racing back in 2002. I sat up in the bleachers in corner 4 at Welland County Motorcycle Track. I never wanted to impose myself on the many volunteers so I stayed in the bleachers for three years.
Finally, one Saturday Night I was asked to photograph the races from infield. That's when I discovered the real talent these riders were.
I met Tyler Seguin though his Uncle Tim Seguin. At a young age he was respectful and focused, and always smiling. As he rose through the classes his talent was evident. It was never a surprise to see him become the youngest Canadian National Champion. Even then Tyler was respectful, giving, and smiling. His status didn't change him. I believe it actually helped everyone around him see a man with a HUGE heart, a loving, generous, and who was devoted family. Most of all he was likable.
I am going to miss him on the track.
Rest In Peace Tyler and thanks for all the blessed memories!
