Lina Samoukova Montréal-based photographer It started as a fascination with the ability to freeze time.

Upon being pressured to specialize, I recognized that through the lens of documentary imaging, I could create visuals combining several mediums: portrait, landscape, fine art and others without the restrictions that those genres alone often imposed. This freedom liberates my approach to documentation and results in a unique and often inspired mix of still and moving images open to and inspired by the circumstances that are being covered.

What an absolutely magical experience shooting my first winter wedding! ❄️ We bravely faced the cold and made our way through the Old Port’s snow-covered cobblestone streets. I am obsessed with the results!

9 years ago today, on a glowing sunset street in Old Havana, I walked by a handsome boy; we smiled at each other and kept on our own ways.
Somehow, the universe would proceed to bring us back together – again and again, in ways only comparable to how it goes in the movies.
Two years later we got married. Then covid happened, all our immigration paperwork was in limbo. We’ve now spent 5 years building a life together here in Montreal.
I couldn't have asked for a better love story or for a better partner. 💖💖💖
