OJHL LEADS CJHL IN USPORTS ALUMNI REPRESENTATION
154 OJHL Alumni playing U-Sports Hockey during the 2025-2026 Season
MISSISSAUGA – MAY 29, 2026 – The Ontario Junior Hockey League (OJHL) continues to reinforce its position as a top league for player development, with more former OJHL players competing in U-SPORTS men’s hockey than any other league in the Canadian Junior Hockey League (CJHL).
According to the 2025-26 CJHL Alumni on U-SPORTS Rosters report, 154 former OJHL players are currently competing across U-SPORTS programs throughout Canada — the highest total among all (9) nine CJHL member leagues.
The report tracks former players from current CJHL franchises who appeared in a minimum of five junior games before advancing to Canadian university hockey.
The OJHL’s strong presence throughout U-SPORTS highlights the league’s ability to prepare players for long-term success both on and off the ice. Former OJHL players are currently competing at universities across Ontario and Canada, balancing high-performance hockey with academics and career preparation.
The league’s continued success in advancing players comes through a development environment that emphasizes:
• elite competition
• player advancement
• academic opportunity
• character development
• leadership and life preparation
While the OJHL has consistently produced NCAA and professional talent, the league also takes tremendous pride in the growing number of players who continue their hockey journey within Canadian university sport.
“The U-SPORTS pathway is an outstanding opportunity for our players,” added Chris Vanstone, VP Hockey Operations, OJHL. “For many young men, it represents the perfect combination of elite hockey, education, leadership growth and long-term career development. We are proud that so many former OJHL players continue to succeed at that level.”
The OJHL remains one of Canada’s premier Junior A hockey leagues and continues to provide a direct pathway to the OHL, NCAA, U-SPORTS and professional hockey opportunities worldwide.
