Have you ever been to ?

Chances are you may have heard the name mentioned durn a podcast, been told by a boulder local you have to check it out or maybe you've been Lucky enough to witness a slideshow or two there.

If climbing history & new shiny gear geeks you out, this is a must stop destination for the climber at heart.

I visited in 2016, 2018, and 2019. 2023 seems like a good year for another visit!

This is my father. The things he has taught me have gotten me too places I never thought I would be.

These lessons have also been the reasons I've made it out of some of those places.

In October of 2014, I arrived in canmore. My 87' Ford Econolines check engine light would finally get some rest.

That same week, canmore's first climbing co-op, "the vision," had been disassembled and was moving to a new location just down the street.

I had moved to Canmore because I needed climbing to consume my life - before something else took over.

I slept in the parking lot for the first few weeks so I could spend all my free time pitching in with the build.

Once it was complete, it became my second home, I became a board member, and it's where I would train for my time competing in the World Cup circa 2019.

This seasons I will back on track, back to the rockies, back to training, and ready to share what I've learned with .

Runners amaze me. I, too, love suffering, don't get me wrong. But to suffer for such an extended period of time when the consiquence of stopping has no risk is admirable.

The mental fortitude of marathon running is unlike that of my vices; Climbing & River Kayaking.

On a river or a wall, there's no just stepping to the side. You're forced to finish unless you are okay with wrecking yourself or dying - there for the temptation of stopping doesn't even cross our mind.

I'll be honest... IF I was a runner, I don't know what would stop me from just wanting that break. That being said, maybe... just maybe I need to try running a bit more.

When I saw you in Natick, you looked fresh. A smile as large as your heart shrieked out in joy when you saw me.

20 miles later, I was waiting on Boylston only 60m from the finish line. I held my camera up for roughly 20 minutes, sporadically bouncing around my viewfinder trying to spot your purple shoes.

When I spotted you, I could see it. You must have checked into the hurt locker a few miles back. But you looked f*cking strong, and you knew damn well you were going to run a personal best - and that you did.

Yesterday, I approached the start line via a small residential neighborhood adjacent to the starting line. While doing so, I stumbled upon the wheelchair divisions athletes in warm-up.

The atmosphere of the morning made it seem even more inspiring. Even when it appears gloomy, you'll always have a shot to push yourself out of the fog.

I appreciate the universe giving me the chance to witness your strength and spirit.
