I believe that we tend to appreciate the beauty and wonders of God's creation when we see them up close. Flowers , with their geometrical shaped petals, vibrant colours, array of textures, look beautiful on the outside. But right at the center of it all, up close, is where all the work happens. It may not look all that pretty up close , but after pollination has taken place, it sprouts into the beautiful flower that we see and love.
What's life like up close ?

It took me a little over 15 minutes to capture this image here. You see, house flies move really fast. Infact, their eyes are compound organs that are comprised of thousands of individual lenses, capable of detecting both the polarization of light and color spectrums unseen by humans.
House fly eyes can recognize even the slightest movements in a wide field. This is the reason that it is extremely difficult to swat a house fly.
So taking a picture of one wasn't easy, as it could detect the slightest movement close to it. I had to stay steady for a while, while it went back and forth.
Voilà !

I took the picture of this flower because of its vibrant colour. But I must say it looks better as a picture then it looked to my eyes.

On Saturday, while taking a nature walk this beauty caught my eye.
Except, I saw better with the lens than I did with my eyes. Don't get it wrong, I have great eye sight 😂
But one thing that I love so much about photography is that the lens is able to show in such great detail what the eye has missed.
And we're able to enjoy that beautiful view, frozen in time for as long as we so wish.
This here, is why I am a photographer. To magnify God's wondrous creation.
