I seriously still can't get over last week's amazing Aurora! Seeing the Northern Lights one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World is just something else entirely. It took me 14 years to finally see them like this! Worth the wait, for sure. 🤯

Winnipeg always has these little moments you only catch if you slow down. Like the sunlight bouncing off the museum, the maze of bike wheels throwing wild shadows, and someone just passing through like they’re part of the scene without even knowing it. That’s the magic of shooting in black and white it turns an ordinary second into a whole story. That’s exactly what we’re exploring in our Winnipeg Photography Group B&W workshop.

During a black and white photography workshop at The Forks, one of our participants pauses to photograph the striking sculptural architecture rising into the sky. I loved how their small figure against the massive structure captured such a powerful sense of scale, while all that negative space in the sky gave the image room to breathe.

Sometimes the best shots happen when you step back and let the architecture tell the story.
