Alana Elliott Photography Alana Elliott Photography - Portrait photography in and around Winnipeg since 2006! Welcome! Take care! Alana S.

This is a page focusing on my artwork and photography based in Winnipeg, Manitoba. I specialize in portraiture, ranging from live band gigs, weddings and maternity sessions to professional promo head shots, couple/engagement celebration sessions and family photos. I've also dabbled in food and local business promotional photography and can work with your unique studio-style needs. Photography has

always struck a chord with me, ever since I was a kid who was old enough to pick up a Polaroid camera and showcase my toys and dolls as the celebrities I was pretty sure they were! I've been photographing in the Winnipeg area for several years, falling in love with capturing the candid, intimate moments of musicians on stage, lovely couples and families celebrating the special occasions of their weddings, engagements, pregnancies and newborns. I'm privileged to share these moments in their lives and help them capture the instances of time they want to remember forever. Please feel free to browse through my albums and contact me if you have any inquiries about pricing or interests in a session. Elliott

I recently had the pleasure of photographing my dear friend Christine's new baby girl, the tiniest and sweetest little babe you've ever seen! Here's a few photos from the session - I can't wait to photograph her a million more times and watch her grow and learn and experience the world!

Sheesh! I haven't posted in quite awhile! I'm finally catching up on editing photo sessions after a wonky bout of illness, and I'd like to post a preview from a family lifestyle session for a lovely client who's been so kind and patient. I was so touched witnessing the love they have for each other, they are so sweet and thoughtful with each other, it was an honour to help them capture their wonderful family bond! Here's a few photos from Brianne's family session, a quick preview for her before she gets the rest in a few days!

I am happy to show you a session with the loveliest expecting couple, Ludivine and Matthew! I recently posted a couple of teaser photos to tide them over, and I'm so pleased to post a few more of my favourites from their beautiful fall session. They are such a sweet couple, and I am thrilled to have worked with them and helped them document their first pregnancy; you can tell how excited they are to be parents as they wait to welcome their little bundle of joy!

Do you remember this mama and her beautiful baby bump? Ludivine and Matthew's maternity session will be up next! As I run their photos through the editing process, here's another quick teaser. Me and the hubby's unexpected trip to Chicago definitely put a delay on the line up of session editing, but progress is being made again, and this expecting couple's photos will be completed soon! Yay!

I think it's safe to call this session "Making The Best Of A Very Bad Day"!

Jennifer and her beautiful family met us in Assiniboine Park for a family session, and though both Jennifer and I did our best to prepare for the day, it didn't work out for everyone! Such is life, am I right? The sweet little baby was cranky and cold, and there were not enough comforting cuddles, noisy musical toys, goofy faces and silly dances to make him feel better. The toddler (with the most adorable head of curls I've ever seen!) had decided to skip his morning nap, and boy, was he ever displeased with how his day was going! Consequently, the parents were frazzled and in a rush to get back home. Sessions can always be rescheduled (at no cost), but we all decided that we would do our best to get at least a few photos in. Jennifer and her husband had the patience of saints as the wind picked up and the clouds overhead threatened a downpour at any moment. I managed to get a few smiles from the kids, and won over the oldest with the bribe of a Tootsie Roll Pop, but the curly-haired toddler was very much on the verge - until the last few minutes. Momma started packing up, so Mike and I figured the boys deserved a mini jam session. Out came the Guitar Hero guitar, into the hands of the teary-eyed little man, and suddenly, there they were, smiles from ear to ear! Let me tell you, that kid was born to rock! You've never seen a kid so happy to be holding an instrument (is he the future Dimebag Darrell??), and I was beyond happy to finally capture his sweet little smile on camera for his very proud and very frustrated Mom!

Moral of the story: Having a hard day? ROCK OUT! It makes life a lot sweeter!

I recently spent an afternoon with Sam, who regaled me with fascinating stories of his life, his beliefs, and his wonderful family, while I took some head shots and portraits for him. Sam is a life coach/career counselor who approached me with a bit of a tricky situation he was in, involving quite a time crunch, but we worked together to get him the photos he needed for his websites. It was a few hours that seemed to go by in a few moments - Sam is an incredibly intelligent and thoughtful person with so much life experience, he talked and talked while I snapped away, and I must say, at the end of the session, I was honoured to have been able to have some in-depth conversations with him. Photography and portraiture allows me to meet some pretty amazing people, and for that I am deeply grateful!

A few weeks back, I got together with my lovely friend Lucille and her husband Chris for a session, along with their ridiculously adorable dogs, Buddy and Hayley! They had just recently adopted Hayley from Manitoba Underdogs Rescue, and wanted some photos to celebrate the new furry addition to their family!

Here are a few of the photos from their family session, some of my favourites from the batch! I loved being able to capture some candid moments between them as they shared smiles and laughter together - the love they have for each other is so sweet!

And of course, their session added another $50 to the donation I'll be making to the Manitoba Underdogs Rescue in December! The sale for one hour sessions is going strong! Just $100 for a one hour session, and half of all profits made from these one hour sessions between now and December 23rd will be donated to the amazing local rescue that does such marvelous things for dogs and cats in Manitoba who are in need of new forever homes! Lucille and Chris are a perfect example of a family made even more awesome with a rescue dog from Manitoba Underdogs. :)

Okay, I just HAVE to post just one photo from one of this past weekend's sessions before we take off for Chicago tomorrow - one of the sweetest expecting couples I've ever had the pleasure of meeting, and their adorable dog! This photo makes me smile, and I hope it does the same for you!

Just an update:

Unfortunately I need to announce that several session photo returns to certain clients need to be delayed. Last week my husband Mike tragically lost one of his two best friends, Bill, who lived back in Chicago, where Mike lived before he moved here 5 months ago. It has been a heartbreaking week, as we make arrangements to fly to Chicago in 2 days to attend the funeral and be with his other best friend Jayme, and of course be with Mike's family and friends who he misses so dearly. Mike, Jayme and Bill have been best friends for 15 years, and it's been very difficult for them as it sinks in that Bill is gone.

As we deal with this situation both in Winnipeg and Chicago, I ask for your patience in receiving your completed session photographs. Christine, Lucille, Jennifer, Ludivine, and Ruxy - I've informed you briefly about this, but wanted to give you a more complete explanation. Lucille, your photos are in the current editing line, everyone else, your sessions are in line for editing and I promise to get them back to you as soon as I can.

Thank you for your patience, I am incredibly grateful.

❤️

Looking for family photos that really capture your family dynamic? I am LOVING this post on citymomsblog.com, sharing insightful and experienced tips on how you as the client can help bring your own style and personality to your next family photos! Definitely a helpful read!

Much like the "everyone wear a black shirt and jeans" trend, the days of every member standing still with a frozen grimace masquerading as a smile have passed.

It's been a busy and wonderful weekend, and I just had to leave you with this teaser from today's shoot, because seriously, this kid is major cuteness! What a little ham he is! Such a fun session today.
And of course, 50% of profits will go to Manitoba Underdogs Rescue!
