We all tend to love fall colours but this year we are doing a tour to California to enjoy the fall colours in places like Joshua Tree, Yosemite and of course the coast, the tour is mostly full but there is still some room if you want to join us. Oct 27 - Nov 2

We've all heard the statement that ___ is to die for, well for me this image was about as close as I've ever gotten to living that out. It all started out with an unexpected detour to Moab a few months ago and with a free day alone I asked myself "what have I always wanted to photograph but never been able to." The answer was a location that my very good friend Joe Kerr and I had wanted to go to several times but had never had the opportunity to see. After a long conversation at the rangers station at Canyonlands National Park and some rough directions from the only person around who had any idea of where I wanted to go I set out for an adventure for Joe and myself to look back on. The rest of the story is a bit long and I'm still coming to grips with it all 3 months later but I will just say that things did not go to plan and for about 90 minutes I was questioning if this was in fact my last day on earth and during that time a few things became crystal clear to me, 1. God is Able. 2. the only thing that mattered to me in the face of death was have I been faithful to God and when I'm gone will someone tell those that I care about that God loves them and has a plan for their lives.

I will tell the whole story to anyone who wants to hear it but this image will end up on my wall as a reminder of God's faithfulness to me and as a reminder of my friend Joe an amazing man that I have had the pleasure of doing much travelling and photographing with.

Today's photo is not from some far off region but rather from right here in the Winnipeg area, Matlock Beach on Lake Winnipeg. This was from a sunrise session that I did about 2 years ago, I was so blessed to have the fog rolling in as the sun was coming up over the water, it was a truly amazing morning and I hope it brings you some of the joy that it brings to me.

Today is an Utah kind of day so I will take you all back there with me. I got up just before sunrise and immediately took a number of photos in this amazing location, then after setting up my camera on a tripod I set up a Timelapse and walked the little path to my perch. I was really wishing that I had a Pepsi first thing as I was shaking as I climbed up on this perch, looking down was really cool but looking out over this amazing creation was certainly a highlight from my trip.

On my recent trip to Utah I took a little side trip to see these amazing mud hills that these images just don't even come close to capturing the scale of. There is a place In Saskatchewan known as the Beech Sand Castles and while these are very similar these are just way bigger but just as fragile. As I drove up I had about 5 minutes wandering the slot canyons until it started raining and after a 15-20 minute wait in the car getting to know my new friend James the clouds started to roll out and I had a few hours to explore.

I love the clouds in the first one, they made me think of my friend Sheila Wiwchar and the bird reminded me of Alexandra Morrison. After a great afternoon I was treated to a spectacular sunset that I was unable to do justice. This location will likely find its way onto a tour in the next year as I would go back again in a heart beat. What a blessing.

I am super excited to announce that this fall I will be headed to California to lead a small group tour photographing Yosemite, Joshua Tree and the California coast. Trip is from Oct 27th to Nov 2 and it will start and end in Palm Springs.

I finally have had a few minutes to get back to some images from my trip to Utah in May. I love slot canyons, I feel that there is so much beauty in them and every chance I get to walk through a slot canyon I feel blessed. Today I have an image that I can't decide on, Black and White or Color???

On my last post my friend Alex Morrison mentioned that the photos looked a lot like an alien landscape, todays photos are still from New Mexico and are a little more on the alien side, please let me know your favourite. A few days into my recent trip I spent a day in New Mexico and as is usual for my visits there I spent about 3 hours in a wicked sand storm however the storm made for some fantastic images. Do you have a favourite the right after the storm dramatic or the golden hour afterglow?
