Meet Ralph, our male Grayish Jumper (Phidippus Princeps). These spiders' vision is more than ten times better than that of the dragonfly, which is considered to have the best vision among insects.

Ralph is curious, and is also an excellent hunter.

Meet Nugget, our cute little dwarf hamster. Whilst our daugther was away on a trip toher grandparents', we did a photo shoot as a surprise for her.

Dwarf hamsters are tiny, fast, and surprisingly complex. Nugget is a very sweet little guy, and is very comfortable, usually opting to sleep on his back up against the plexiglass of his two-story hamster "condo".

This is the first of two sets of images of Nugget.

Tucked away along Godrevy beach is a sheltered area where a seal colony resides.

I took these from quite far away so as not to disturb them.

A flat-topped white aster (Doellingeria umbellata, also known as parasol whitetop) growing along the shores of Joeperry Lake in Bon Echo Provincial Park.

This is the last of the series of images that I captured at Joeperry. While it is sad that I wasn't able to capture the night sky (the weather was not cooperating), I am pleased with what I managed to "bring home" with me.

I often focus on the fruits of plants - but in this case I am highlighting the beautiful texture and symmetry of the leaves of a raspberry plant.

These images were captures on an island in Joeperry Lake in Bon Echo Provincial Park.

She's small, but bold. Endlessly curious and absolutely cute.

A female bold jumping spider (Phidippus audax) exploring the world on the outside of her terrarrium.

Steeplebush (Spiraea tomentosa) catching the mid-afternoon light. Similar to Meadowsweet, this plant grows near lakes and bogs.

I captured these images on the shores of Joeperry Lake in Bon Echo Provincial Park. Definitely a beautiful find.

A perched birch in Algonquin Park.

A “perched birch” refers to a birch tree that has grown on top of a decaying stump or fallen log rather than directly in the soil. Over time, the birch roots stretch down around and through the old wood into the ground. Eventually, as the stump decays, the birch looks like it's on stilts.

Or, in this case, it looks like a hand reaching into the ground.

Bright Meadowsweet (Filipendula ulmaria) flowers line the shores of Joeperry Lake in Bon Echo Provincial Park.

They were fun to capture as they swayed in the wind. It was as if you could see nature breathing.

I can't think of a better example of how trees reach for the sky.

This was taken along the Bluff Trail in Awenda Provincial Park.
