The Rufous Hummingbirds have returned!!!
I was thrilled to catch sight of this male early this evening!
The males arrive first , from their over 3000 km migration from Mexico.
My feeders will soon get so busy with Rufous aggressively competing with the resident Anna’s Hummingbirds. Last summer I had over 30 hummingbirds and had to refill 5 feeders every day! They would go through 2 litres of sugar water a day!
I guess I need to get stocked up with sugar!!!

It is the last of the winter full moons. Because the sun is low in winter, the full moon is high, so this Snow Moon is probably the highest full moon we’ll see all year!
