Is this the most beautiful lake in Switzerland? 🇨🇭
If you’re visiting Switzerland, Oeschinensee deserves a spot right at the top of your bucket list. 🩵
Nestled in the Bernese Alps, this UNESCO World Heritage Site is famous for its incredible turquoise waters, dramatic limestone cliffs and waterfalls cascading down the mountainsides. Fed by glacial meltwater, the lake gets its unreal colour from tiny rock particles suspended in the water, giving it that almost tropical glow.
While most visitors explore the lakeshore, if you’re up for a climb, make sure you tackle the Heuberg Trail for these breathtaking panoramic views. It’s a little steeper, but completely worth the effort.
You can take the cable car up from Kandersteg before hiking to the upper viewpoints. If you can, visit early in the morning or later in the afternoon to enjoy the scenery with fewer crowds and the most beautiful light.
What a way to kick off our European campervan adventure. 🚐✨
Would you hike up here for this view? 🩵
