Last weekend, the project's first event to raise awareness about the melting glaciers occurred at the Hotel Pollux .

A lot of people have been asking me how it went.

The truth is, it could have been much better. But it could also have been worst.

One thing is for sure, a lot of learnings were derived from it - from the communication to the application, presentation and things to consider.

All in all, it was an experience to take with and learn from. And the good news is we made the first sale, kickstarting the project to fundraise for Protect Our Winters Switzerland 🚀🚀

We've put the goal of reaching CHF 10'000 by 31.12.2022 to support Protect Our Winters Switzerland ‘s mission. Either by purchasing photographs or donating directly. Are you in? 💪

On November 3rd, the second event of the series will take place at 17.30 at the Impact Hub Zürich Viadukt, where we will have exciting discussions around glaciers and climate change. It would be lovely to see you there.

Check out the Website for all details regarding the project, the event and how you can contribute to the project: https://www.artforimpact.ch/protectourglaciers 🥰

I look forward to having you as part of the change 💙

The first was the first sale of the project - which one is your favourite? 🤓 )

Five minutes away from the Zürich airport and 30 minutes away from the city centre with a direct tram is the Dorint Airport-Hotel Zürich

After visiting Essential by Dorint Basel City last year and Dorint Blüemlisalp Beatenberg/Interlaken this June, it was time to try out the last of the (at least for now 😉) combo - the Zurich location.

It was my first time staying in the region where I used to live before embarking on the Hotel Nomad journey. A city where I know how things work, where things are, and where my social life also mainly resides. But it was a great opportunity to experience it from another perspective.

Here to some of the results and insights of my stay: https://lnkd.in/e2ep8-5b

A big thank you to the entire team for the super kind hospitality!

Excited to announce that in exactly one month, on September 3rd, the first event of the project “Protect our Glaciers” will take place.

The second event will be in 3 months from today, on November 3rd.

A lot of 3s to remember there 😂

Before you get tangled and lose yourself with the dates, what am I even talking about?

In July, Hotel Pollux Zermatt gave me the opportunity of staying a week at their premises to explore and create images of the glaciers in the region.

The images will be available for sale, and 50% will be donated to Protect Our Winters Switzerland - an outdoor community committed to implementing concrete climate protection measures. An organisation that is also part of the 1% for the Planet community.

Independent of where we live, the melting glaciers affect us all, and we must do something about it in favour of its protection. If we stop doing our part, they will stop doing theirs.

Here to the website with all the details about the project 🤓 https://www.artforimpact.ch/protectourglaciers

The first event will take place on September 3rd, as of 16:30 in Zermatt, at the premises of the Hotel. Here to the registration: https://eventfrog.ch/de/p/kunst-ausstellungen/vernissage/protect-our-glaciers-part-i-6951570242704147036.html

Both events are free of charge to participate. The registrations allow us to know how many people will participate and organise everything accordingly.

You can choose to participate in one or both events. They will showcase different photographs and also have a different setup.

I look forward to seeing you there and opening this much-needed discussion ♥️

Switzerland, oh Switzerland...

We’ve always had a bit of a special relationship.

What initially started as excitement soon transformed into hate until I gave you a second chance and tried again.

Then the love eventually came.

I was committed to seeing the beauties you hold and soon discovered that the problem was never you. My experiences were all linked to how I was feeling inside.

The beginning was hard. Really hard. I thought that I wouldn’t last, that you didn’t want me to be one of your citizens. I felt lonely, lost and a misfit. This wasn’t my place.

Only in my third year (after staying one year in the US) did I start feeling like I was constructing a new home. A place I felt comfortable, had friends and could start enjoying the great things you offer.

I adventured myself to trying to understand how you tick, to use the language as the locals did and observe how the ones that fit in actually make their lives work here. Even writing in Swiss German became a thing. I still remember the first message I sent; it felt ridiculous. And indeed, I was laughed at many times on how I write - and still am, in a “cute” way - but I continued trying (and still do).

I understood that your culture is different. Very different from the one I was used to. In Brazil, much effort didn’t have to be made to get to know new people, be invited to parties or come to chit-chats with a stranger. Things somehow simply happened.

Not here.

As an introverted, not the easiest ambience to integrate. But it was a matter of survival. Soon I discovered that for you to open up, I had to do the first step: open myself, say hi with a smile and initiate the conversation. It started working. By changing my stand, our relationship got massively better.

People showed to be super lovely after all. After breaking the hard shell, they are loving, caring, trusting and loyal. A place to feel cared about.

Eventually, I also started exploring the nature that you hold. Oh, what a beauty. So many opportunities for outdoor lovers. Places to disconnect from the busy routines and soak in the silence that the mountains have to offer.

Hiking, swimming in the lakes, walking at 3 am (sometimes barefoot) in the illuminated streets of Zurich while listening to music, reliable public transportation that takes you everywhere you want, respect and punctuality, things that work.

I started liking you.

You started becoming my comfort zone. My playground. My Disneyland for experimentation.

You allowed me to get to know myself and others—the chance to try new things and test new perspectives.

It was, by far, one of the best decisions I’ve made back then.
First to come, and then to stay.

I’m not yet 100% sure you will be my home in the long term. But I am grateful for everything we’ve been through together in the past 12,5 years. And I am thankful for all the doors you’ve opened.

Thank you. Thank you for being you, and happy national day. 🇨🇭

Here to a little bit about what I've been up to during most of July.
I had the chance to live for nearly three weeks at the Hotel Polluxin beautiful Zermatt.

Every time I visit this place, magical things seem to happen. Check out the insights of my stay and some of the photographic results: https://hotelnomad.life/projekte/hotel-pollux-part-iii

I hope it inspires you to visit this gem and value our wonders in 💙

Zermatt, and most specifically Hotel Pollux, feels like home already. This has been my third time living here at the Hotel. The last two times were once during winter 2021 and for a period last summer.

Until last Thursday, I was still staying at Dorint Blüemlisalp Beatenberg, located close to

I spent ten days living there, exploring their services and a few bits of the region to create photographic content for the Hotel.

Check out the link below to read the insights and see some of the results:

Mountains, lake, trees, the singing birds (with falcons among them), and a peaceful fresh air summarise the family-owned Hotel Balm surrounding in Meggen, Switzerland.

In the Hotel, you'll find 18 rooms (nine of which were recently renovated), a rich wine cellar with approx. 500 types of wine with prices ranging between CHF 46 and CHF 6'500 per bottle, two restaurants with exquisite cuisine, a relaxing pool heated by solar panels and a family-like team running the show.

I had the pleasure to experience it all for 14 days, and I can highly recommend it to anyone looking to dine & wine well and unwind from the hectic routine.

Thank you to all the remarkable individuals I had the pleasure to meet in these past few days ♥️
