A spring evening

A quiet, frosty winter morning. The sun rose about half an hour ago and is beginning, slowly but steadily, to touch the hills and landscape with its warming light and dispel the fog.

I like the contrast of the warmer tones in the foreground where there is no more frost against the cooler bluer tones in the background where most of the landscape is still covered in frost. And the sea of fog separating these two parts.

Winter in the Zurich Oberland.

Winter has arrived in the Züri Oberland. ❄️

Late yesterday afternoon, after a short hike from the parking lot to the Bachtel Tower atop Mount Bachtel, I took in the 360-degree view, waited for the sunset, and almost froze my fingers off 🥶 as cold winds swept across the exposed tower. I usually hesitate to put on gloves because they make it harder to operate the camera buttons and dials. But this time, drastic measures were clearly needed. 🤣

This is one of the compositions I framed. I like how the trees, lit by the last light of the day, form a gentle wave across the hills, with a single tree in the bottom right also catching the soft warm light, echoed by the hills in the top left corner.

I cloned out quite a few distracting footsteps and sled tracks in the foreground.

View from Montaña Redonda in the Dominican Republic inland over green fields, hills and towards mountains. What grabbed my attention was the contrast of the dark cloud casting shadow and revealing bright patches on the landscape where the sun still peeked through. This is minutes before a rain cell...
