🇨🇱File this one under “Things You Don’t See Every Day”. I came across this vessel in the harbour at Coquimbo, Chile. Coquimbo bills itself as the “Pirate Bay of North Chile”, so perhaps this kind of encounter is a regular occurrence there. It reminded me that as much as I enjoy modern travel and the adventure it brings, I have always had a special admiration for the intrepid sailors of old who sailed ships like this and smaller into the unknown. Now that was real adventure! What courage it must have taken, even if some of them were pirates.

🇲🇽Wet and cool days in my part of the world sometimes make me think of warmer and sunnier times. How about you? Today I was daydreaming about my time in Cabo San Lucas, on the very tip of the Baja Peninsula. A major tourist destination, especially in the winter months, Cabo San Lucas is one of the globe’s foremost sport-fishing destinations, and boat slips at the marina are hard to find. Still… wish I was there right now.
