Majestic wings that span the sky,
A sentinel where mountains lie.
With ancient eyes, it surveys the land,
Guardian of peaks, so stern, so grand.
Feathers dark as the midnight’s deep,
In silence, secrets vast they keep.
A condor’s grace, in solemn flight,
Echoes through the fading light.

In the quiet hush of the forest deep,
A jaguar dreams in silent sleep.
Its golden coat, a tapestry bright,
Blends with shadows, kissed by night.
The wild breathes with every sigh,
As moonlight dances from the sky.
In peaceful rest, the hunter lies,
Beneath the stars, with tranquil eyes.

In silent grace, the flamingo bows,
A curve of coral, where stillness flows.
Its plumage soft, in hues so bright,
A dance of dawn in the velvet night.
With eyes that gleam, both calm and wise,
It gazes deep, where mystery lies.
In quiet poise, it finds its song,
A gentle echo, where hearts belong.

🏍️ Riding the Majestic Route des Grandes Alpes on my Kawasaki KLR650 🏔️

There are moments in life that leave you breathless, where the beauty of the world unfolds before your eyes, and time seems to stand still. Riding my trusty Kawasaki KLR650 along the legendary Route des Grandes Alpes has been one of those unforgettable experiences.

As I navigate the winding roads and conquer each mountain pass, I am surrounded by nature's grandeur. The rugged peaks of the French Alps rise high above me, their snow-capped summits glistening in the sunlight. The air is crisp and pure, carrying the scent of pine trees and wildflowers, awakening my senses with every breath.

2019 - The Pamir Highway, Tajikistan

Two cars, one epic adventure! from Malta and from Belgium cruising along the stunning Pamir Highway in Tajikistan. From a Fiat Panda to a Toyota Corolla, these teams are showing that anything is possible with the right spirit and determination.

The Pamir Highway, also known as the "Roof of the World," is one of the highest and most challenging roads in the world. It stretches for over 1,200 kilometers and passes through some of the most remote and rugged terrain on the planet. But for these teams, it's just another thrilling day on the Mongol Rally 2019!

2018 - Ngorongoro Conservation Area, Tanzania

Nature is full of surprises and sometimes, what may seem like a gruesome scene can reveal some of the most fascinating insights into the natural world. This photograph captures a moment in the life of vultures, one of the most misunderstood creatures in the animal kingdom.

Vultures have long been associated with death and decay, but in reality, they play a vital role in maintaining the delicate balance of ecosystems. These majestic birds are scavengers and consume carrion, which helps to prevent the spread of disease and parasites.

This hierarchy is determined by various factors such as size, age, and strength, with the strongest and largest vulture occupying the highest rank. The dominant vulture gets to eat first, while the others wait patiently for their turn. Once the dominant vulture has had its fill, the others take their share, with the weaker individuals being left with the scraps.

Vultures are social birds and typically form large groups known as wakes or committees. These groups can consist of up to a hundred birds and are often made up of multiple species of vultures. Interestingly, these birds have a strong sense of community and can communicate with each other using vocalizations and body language.

Vultures are found on every continent except for Australia and Antarctica. They are descendants of raptors, which are birds of prey, and have adapted over time to feed exclusively on carrion. Vultures have an incredible sense of smell and can detect the scent of carrion from miles away, allowing them to locate food quickly and efficiently.

2020 - Venice, Italy

A man hard at work in his boat workshop in Venice, Italy, I couldn't help but feel a sense of awe at the craftsmanship and dedication on display. The man is fully immersed in his work, donning a sleek carbon fiber mask to protect himself from the materials he uses to build his beautiful boats. This is the mark of a true craftsman, someone who puts in the time and effort to perfect their craft and create something truly special.

Venice, the city of canals, has a long and storied history of boat building. The Venetian Republic, which lasted from the 7th to the 18th century, was a major naval power, and Venetian shipbuilders were renowned for their skill and innovation. Today, the tradition lives on, with master craftsmen like the man in this photo continuing to produce stunning boats that are both functional and works of art.

It's easy to romanticise the past, to imagine that the boat builders of old were somehow better or more skilled than their modern counterparts. But as this photo shows, there are still people out there who are passionate about their work, who are committed to preserving and advancing the traditions of their craft. And that is something worth celebrating.

All of a zebra’s fur, both black and white, grows from follicles that contain melanocyte cells. These cells are present in all animals, and they’re primarily responsible for generating the pigment that gives colour to skin and hair. In both cases, melanocyte cells produce melanin—the pigment—that is outwardly visible. In zebras, chemical messengers determine which melanocytes deliver pigment to which section of fur, thus creating the zebra’s black and white pattern. What’s important about zebras is that their white fur represents an absence of melanin; white is not its own pigment. Since white stripes only exist because pigment is denied, black is understood to be the “default” colour of a zebra.

Lions in Botswana's Okavango Delta are probably the largest lions on the planet because there is an abundance of buffalo and other animals to prey upon in the region, and the fact that the animals often walk through water in the delta's many streams, building up their muscles.

2018 | Tanzania, Serengeti National Park

One of the most sought-after experiences for wildlife and nature enthusiasts, the Great Migration is the ever-moving circular migration of over a million animals across the Serengeti-Mara ecosystem. The constant movement of columns of wildebeest, joined by a host of companions, follow an age-old route in search of grazing and water. After calving in the southern part of Tanzania's Serengeti near the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, the animals journey through the Serengeti up and around in a clockwise direction towards the Masai Mara in Kenya, before returning once again near the end of the year. Along the way, high drama is always present, as thousands of animals are taken by predators and thousands more are born, replenishing the numbers and sustaining the circle of life.

2018 | Tanzania, Arusha National Park

The name “colobus” is derived from the Greek word for “mutilated,” because unlike other monkeys, colobus monkeys do not have thumbs. Their beautiful black fur strongly contrasts with the long white mantle, whiskers, bushy tail, and beard around the face. The Eastern black-and-white is distinguishable by a U-shaped cape of white hair running from the shoulders to lower back, whereas the Angolan black-and-white has white hairs flaring out only at the shoulders.

The two species of black and white colobus monkeys are found in Kenya, those that inhabit coastal forests and those in inland high-country areas. Red colobus monkeys are also found in East Africa, but are endangered and quite rare. Two other types of colobus monkeys in Africa are the black and the olive. These monkeys live in all types of closed forests, including montane and gallery forests. Bamboo stands are also popular dwelling spots for this species.

The biggest threat to the colobus today is habitat loss. As human populations are growing and expanding, forests are cut down to make room for agriculture, settlements, and roads. They are rapidly losing their homes as unsustainable development progress.
