Mount Everest

When I opened my tent, this was the view that met me 🏔️

Nothing prepares you for seeing the tallest mountain on earth with your own eyes, no amount of reading, looking at other photos, YouTube videos do the Himalayan mountains justice. It’s not until you keep blinking and opening your eyes over and over, pinching yourself do you realise how spectacular they are up close. I sat in -10 on the rocks and just took it all in. 10 days of hiking to be able to spend 18 hours at base camp, sleeping overnight listening to the glacier moving underneath us, avalanches all around.

I’ve recently returned from a trip to Nepal, including a trek to Mount Everest base camp. As I start to go through footage, photos and memories it’s hitting me just what an epic experience and achievement it was to stand at the base of the top of the world.

I’ve seen the northern lights several times but never been lucky enough to see the southern lights. Tonight not only did I tick that off my list, but I hit a grand slam by having the milky way rising at the same time!

I recently had the experience of a lifetime spending a week on board Scenic Eclipse II from Fiji to Sydney on its maiden Australian voyage. The staff, food and facilities on board were beyond what I ever thought I would ever experience.

As it continues on its journey up the east coast and top end of Australia towards Broome, I wanted to share this moment of calmness on the ocean we had, somewhere between Vanuatu and Norfolk Island. Not a breath of wind, nor a breaking wave in sight. The ocean was like glass and the sunset was beautiful 🌅

I’ll share some more captures from the trip soon 🛳️
