While some people dream of reaching Mars, you can experience something almost as remote much closer to home: the Argentine Puna.
I had wanted to visit this region for a long time, but I had never imagined quite how isolated it would feel. It took four or five days to reach this point, following dirt tracks and crossing passes above 4,000 metres. In some areas, you might see only one other vehicle in a day
At the highest points, I found myself hoping that my motorcycle would not give up at the wrong moment. Fortunately, my dear Honda XRE 300 proved to be a reliable companion (at least for this time)
After several more hours of riding, I finally reached the Cono de Arita. I still had time before sunset, so I made a good coffee, took a few photographs, and flew the drone for the first time.
As I wanted to be there also for sunrise, I had planned to camp there that night, even with temperatures falling to around -5°C. I was prepared. What I could not prepare for was the light.
The weather was completely on my side, and the sunset became one of the most memorable I have experienced. I could not decide whether to photograph it with my Canon or my drone—so I used both at the same time. Blessed by these amazing colors that I can share with you today !
