My background is street photography, but when I moved to Costa Rica I found that there wasn't much scope for it. So I changed my subject matter and started photographing monkeys instead, using the same techniques I employed in street photography: hand held camera, working quickly to try to capture moments of action, interaction, facial expressions etc. I'm still learning but I hope you enjoy the results!

Monkey of the Year was too busy skulking aloofly in his tree, writing poetry and listening to the Velvet Underground, to make a comment but I'm sure that beneath that cool and moody facade he feels deeply honoured and grateful to all who voted.
