02-16-16. Today we received the inaugural Air France flight from Paris-Charles De Gaulle Intl (LFPG). F-GZNL operated the honors today in a 468-pax configuration. The flights will be operated twice a week, Wednesdays and Fridays, until March 25th 2017 with a possible extension to year-round service further on depending on loads. Here she was getting ready to head back to CDG as AF431. Bienvenue!

05-12-15. A sensational & rare visitor to this part of the World was Long-EZ G-LGEZ. Owned by a British couple, Linda & Patrick, they fly around the World with this airplane and finally they decided to pay a visit to Costa Rica. They will be here for a few days visiting the Country. First time I get one of these and such an interesting story behind them. 25-11-15. This interesting Learjet 60XR belongs no other than to the Cinépolis franchise. XA-ORA (cn 60-245), their previous LJ60, I spotted back in 2009 with an almost identical paint scheme. Initially I thought RAV was just ORA re-registered but its a completely new frame. The company operates a number of Cinépolis cinemas in Costa Rica but rarely this Learjet shows up (first time XA-RAV visits SJO since delivery). RAV stands for the Organización Ramirez family which owns the franchise. Departing for Tocumen, Panama (MPTO).

20-11-15. One of my favorite surprises at Opa Locka this trip was BBJ N111VM. Operated by International Jet Club, it is a real eye catcher with this livery. Seems its based in Farnborough, UK (EGLF) but has been in Opa Locka parked since October 29th. One of the first -700s to wear the new Split Scimitar Winglets (SSW). I remember seeing the first photos of this one not that long ago and to my surprise it was delivered over 8 years ago! Still looking sweet!

18-11-15. Since I last spotted N343MG back in 2012, she has "meta-morphed" to a larger Falcon 7X! This registration used to be worn by a Falcon 900EX (sn 193, now N834MG) with the same, stunning scheme. A very welcome upgrade for this PBI-based biz jet. Seen here departing to Teterboro, NJ (KTEB).

10-11-15. Spirit finally sent to SJO one of the newer A321s which are also all in the new "Bare Fares" scheme. N657NK is the first of the newer A321s at Spirit and I've spotted it here & in Houston, TX (KIAH).

10-11-15. N198GS departing this afternoon to Teterboro, NJ (KTEB) after having arrived the night before from San Diego, CA (KSAN). Spotted this back in 2010 when it had a simpler paint scheme, like this one better!

10-11-15. The brand new Copa Airlines Special Scheme in support of the Panama Mens National Soccer Team visiting SJO for the first time this afternoon. In between rain, traffic jams and low light this was all a challenge to get! HP-1534CMP is by far my favorite Copa special scheme until now. Operating flight CMP116-115 PTY-SJO-PTY.

02-11-15. Amway Corporation's sole CL30 visiting SJO for the first time. N526AC joins a fleet of two G550s (N523AC & N524AC). There is also the DeVos fleet which is also two G550s (N250DV & N253DV) one CL30 (N254DV) which have all been into SJO and spotted and then the ex. Wayne Huizenga BBJ (N737WH) which is now N260DV used for the Orlando Magic basketball team. Another aircraft joins the fleet, but its Jay Van Andel's personal G550, N514VA also in SJO a couple of times this year. Lots of business jets for Amway that's for sure! Arrived and departed to Amways base airport, Gerald R. Ford Intl Airport, MI (KGRR).

04-11-15. AAL2436 to Dallas Ft. Worth, TX (KDFW) was one of two AA OneWorld B738s. Had seen this before in MIA but never caught it in SJO. I actually didn't knew it was this one until it was almost rotating, good thing I had my camera near! Like the result from a RWY25 take-off.

04-11-15. This morning's surprise was N280C a very new G280 delivered just over a month ago. The owner? Well it seems this joins an all-Falcon fleet along 900EX N876C, 900LX N276C and 7X N487C (which has been in SJO several times). Wearing all the same blue & yellow scheme this is no other than a Jose Luis Cutrale jet. Cutrale controls one third of the $5 billion-a-year orange juice market and recently acquired Chiquita Brands which operates in Costa Rica, probably the reason why his jets have become more frequent in SJO. He is also on the board at Coca Cola FEMSA. Considered the "richest Brazilian".

21-10-15. C101 heading for Tocumen, Panama (MPTO) after a 20-hour visit to meet with police & government officials. On board was USCG Cheif Commander, Paul Zukunft, and his staff. They are in a 4-country central american tour meeting with officials in conjunction to the National Drug Control Strategy meeting they are having. For a Costa Rican its pretty obvious to actually know what it came to do in SJO. Hopefully after this visit the C130 service in Liberia comes back soon!
