As the police pushed the protesters back to prevent clashes with hooligans sent to suppress the demonstration, I noticed bus 11B stopping behind them. The sign first read “11B HOSPITAL,” then changed to “11B TRAIN STATION” — a powerful, almost ironic symbol of the very reasons the protests began in the first place.

Citizens across Serbia are rising up against injustice, blocking key intersections in cities and towns. While the police attempt to break up these peaceful blockades, protesters tactically retreat—only to regroup and block another junction minutes later. In Novi Sad, where these photos were taken, dozens of intersections were shut down. The resistance is growing. The streets are speaking.

At the protest on the day of Vidovdan, quite a few protesters and police officers were injured during the conflict between the police and the protesters. Bottles and stones were thrown at the police by masked protestors, while the police responded with batons, suppression and tear gas. During the conflict, a large number of citizens tried to calm the situation by calling not to attack the police, but to no avail.

——

The student protest gathered more than 100,000 people, with a clear ultimatum to President Vučić - to call new elections. That did not happen, and the students, who until now ensured that every protest passed peacefully thanks to the cooperation with bikers and war veterans, protested this time from 6 pm to 9 pm.
After their withdrawal from the streets, there was an escalation - clashes broke out between dissatisfied citizens and the police.

Honor in Today’s World
What does it truly mean to have honor today? Is it found in the hands of students who stand up for justice, fighting for a better future? Or is it worn as a uniform by those who are meant to protect but instead serve the powerful, shielding corruption from the voice of the people?

When the word honor stands behind both, the real question isn’t who carries it, but who deserves it.

Srpski ispod
Later in the evening, a strange noise echoed through the crowd. It sounded as if a car was going through the crowd at high speed. Panic erupted—people scattered to the sides of the street, trampling over one another, nearly causing a stampede. Around the same time, rocks started flying from a government-backed encampment, supposedly set up for "students eager to learn." However, videos revealed that it was filled with thugs, likely planted to incite violence.

Realizing the situation, the actual students quickly cleared the area and removed their vests, signaling an end to their protest in an effort to prevent bloodshed. Despite their actions, small clashes broke out throughout the night. The source of the mysterious sound that triggered the initial panic remains unknown, government denies using any kind of similar weapon.

The protests began after the collapse of the train station canopy, which claimed the lives of 15 people. In response, citizens took to the streets, standing still for 15 minutes to honor each of the victims. As tensions rose, students were attacked on the streets. When the government failed to act, they blockaded their faculty buildings—soon, universities across the country followed suit. To this day, students continue their protests and maintain the blockade.

Srpski:

Do danas, studenti nastavljaju proteste i drže blokadu.
