I just returned from Cuba last week and while walking the streets of Central Havana, I came upon this moment when two teachers stepped out into the street to stop traffic and cross these beautiful school children safely across the street. In Cuba ironically, cars/drivers do not stop for pedestrians! Good luck trying to cross the streets. However, except for crossing the street, I feel incredibly safe in Cuba!

But here in America how wonderful is it knowing that most drivers will stop and let the pedestrian cross the street safely because it's the Law? Why can't we make a law to protect our children and our citizens as well as our law enforcement from the epidemic of GUNS!!!

While on my way to the Feast of San Gennaro in Little Italy, a woman stopped and asked me where Foley Square was so I said just follow me I'm heading in that direction. So we parted ways at Foley Square where a Black Lives Matter Poetry reading and rally was taking place. However, I decided to check it out and while listening to some incredibly talented poets, I took up a position behind this beautiful little girl and I made a couple of photos of her. While listening, she decided to simply turn around and there was my moment, my photograph. I thank the woman who asked for directions. If it had not been for her I never would have had this moment, this photograph.

One of my favorite places is the special town of Regla, just a short ferry ride across the Havana Harbor. I love the casual and laid back feeling as you walk the streets along side the warm and friendly Cuban people who live here. Regla, Cuba
