🌙 Night Vision Put to the Test

How much detail can a surveillance camera capture when the lights go out?

Two of TVT’s latest cameras, the TD-9442E4H-PA(D/PE/AW3) and TD-9442E3B-A, were tested side by side in the same scene and under identical night-time conditions.

The comparison evaluates their performance across three different lighting modes:

🔦 Supplementary light switched off

🌙 Infrared illumination activated

💡 White light activated

📱 An iPhone recording was also used as a real-world reference, making it easier to compare what the human eye sees with the images captured by each camera.

From extremely dark conditions and monochrome infrared imaging to clear, full-colour video, the test demonstrates how different illumination technologies can affect visibility, image detail and situational awareness.

For homes, businesses, warehouses, car parks and outdoor facilities, night-time image quality can make a critical difference. Better detail helps operators assess events more accurately, identify people or objects and respond more effectively when an incident occurs.
