Muller & Muse Fine Art Tanya Muller is a contemporary artist from South Africa, now living in Cyprus. Her paintings blend realism and abstraction, inspired by the Mediterranean.

With a background in design and photography, her work reconnects people with nature and themselves. At Muller & Muse, my artistic journey centers on the emotional language of light and color, inviting viewers to pause and reconnect with what truly matters. Growing up in South Africa, I developed a love for nature’s stories, which infuse my work with warmth and joy, often celebrating bright yellows

and sun-kissed oranges. Relocating to Cyprus in 2021 enriched my palette with the Mediterranean’s vibrant hues and soft greens, deepening my creative practice. My artistic process begins with quiet observation and collaboration with photographers to capture poignant moments that I later transform into art. In my studio, I blend inspiration digitally before bringing it to life with professional acrylics, refining shapes with charcoal, exploring the balance of light and shadow, and adding depth with spray paint. As I apply the final touches with professional-grade oil paints, each stroke breathes new life into the piece. I enhance the details and contrasts, allowing the painting to unfold its story, inviting viewers to experience its beauty more deeply. Each artwork serves as a bridge connecting memories and emotions, inviting viewers to experience a tangible sanctuary rooted in beauty and connection. Some paintings are created to fill a wall.
Others are created to hold a feeling.

Elephants move through the world with memory and care. They remind us that strength does not need to be loud, and that what we protect today becomes the world of tomorrow.

A little glimpse into the artist behind the work.

I have always loved the deeper feeling that black and white photography carries.There is something timeless about it… as if the image already holds a story, you only need to slow down enough to listen.

I’ve always been a rather shy person, quietly observing the world around me.But the moment I pick up a camera or a paint brush, something shifts in me. I feel alive.

Art has become my way of speaking — of holding onto emotions, memories and fleeting moments that are difficult to put into words.

Maybe that is why I paint the way I do.Not just to create something beautiful, but to create something that feels.

My story is still unfolding.
