Here is our latest video release of the “Lady Thetis” Shipwreck in Limassol, Cyprus.

Over the course of a few weeks I filmed Lady Thetis with the TD Diving team, a shipwreck site that sits at a depth of 18-20m (59-65 feet) in Limassol that has now become one of my favorite shipwreck dives in Cyprus due the many surprise encounters experienced there. Lady Thetis was originally named “Reiher” and was employed as a coastal passenger vessel that was built in Hamburg, West Germany in 1953 and was registered in the Register of Cyprus Ships in 1990 and later sunk in February 2014 to serve as a recreational dive site.

The wreck includes the engine room, store rooms, the bridge, a number of different decks, doorways, hatches, stairwells, the hull area, props and the high mast. Overtime microorganisms colonize the shipwreck almost immediately after the vessel comes to rest on the seafloor and these organisms, including bacteria, archaea and fungi form communities on the surface and attract a lot of sea life.

The sea life has exploded in the area and just demonstrates what these artificial and protected reefs can produce in terms of extensive and diverse marine life.
