The green, rolling hills and colourful towns of Ireland are lovely, but I fell in love with its abandoned ruins, medieval abbeys, haunted castles, and mossy forests.

There’s something about Ireland that feels mystical and spooky in all the right ways, and it’s a side of the country worth exploring 🖤

DON’T miss these castle ruins in Di**le, Ireland! 🧚‍♀️

If you’ve been following along for a while, you know that I love castles 🏰

But not just any castles!

I have a soft spot for the crumbling medieval castles that have been lost to time - the ones that nature has slowly taken over. 🌿

There’s something about standing in front of a structure that has been untouched and unaltered by modern hands. Seeing the same rocks that hold the stories of people from hundreds of years ago - and finding myself somehow now becoming a small part of its story as a transient visitor. 🥹

Anyway, this castle fascinates me because both the history and folklore of Ireland are intertw**ed on its grounds. ✨

I didn’t find any information about Rahinnane while planning our trip.

I only came across it when looking for castle ruins on Google Maps to add to our drive along the Di**le Peninsula….

And what a treasure to find!

Needless to say, be careful walking around here or you might fall in a hole (or the underworld!😮)

Around 31,386 ringforts are recorded across Ireland, and most still stand untouched today.

That reason isn’t only law - it’s superstition!

Rumour has it that those who enter a fairy fort after dark don’t come out…☠️

There doesn’t seem to be any evidence that suggests why the Fitzgeralds ignored this taboo. Perhaps they didn’t know, perhaps as Anglo-Normans they didn’t share the Gaelic Irish belief system…

She was later transferred to the nearby Lismore ringfort.

Not to mention, the walls are covered in plants and moss 😍

How many people can say they’ve stood in both at once?!

If you don’t do it out of fascination, do it for the street cred 😎

We were there during peak tourist season and not a soul was there besides us (but maybe fairies were 🧚)

Make sure you’re wearing water resistant shoes!

Berlin’s trippiest ice rink is back in TWO weeks!! 🪩

This large-scale installation covers 1,000 square meters, has 600 suspended trees and 250,000 lights!

The inverted fir trees are traditionally seen as a symbol of light and hope - and it’s safe to say the display definitely brings light and energy to the darkness of a Berlin winter!

You can visit the installation and watch the light show on its own, or combine it with ice skating!

There’s also mulled w**e and treats to warm up and enjoy the show in between rounds 🙃

If you go on the weekends - be prepared for crowds. We had a blast even though it was super packed, but this is not for everyone!

If you’re able to go during the week or in the afternoon, I’d recommend it 😉

It is the perfect activity to bring some eclectic energy, dancing, and fun into these long & dark days ✨
