For today’s TBT post some photos of a rainy morning at Sensō-ji Temple in Tokyo, Japan

Rainy mornings in Tokyo hit differently, especially when you have a place like Sensō-ji Temple completely to yourself. Looking back at these photos from Asakusa, I can still feel the mist, the cool air, and the quiet magic of the empty grounds before the city woke up. There is something incredibly peaceful about watching the vibrant red architecture glisten under a gray sky, with only the sound of rain falling on the ancient stone paths. Take me back to getting lost in Japan’s history, wandering with an umbrella, and soaking in a side of Tokyo most people miss.

Today some photos from January in Berlin during a snow day.

Visiting Museum Island in Berlin during a January 2026 snow day felt like stepping directly into a living winter postcard. A thick, crisp blanket of white muffled the city’s usual hum, transforming the Spree River into a dark ribbon contrasting against the snow-laden banks. The majestic, neoclassical columns of the Altes Museum and the imposing dome of the Berliner Dom looked exceptionally striking, draped in fresh snow and framed by a pale winter sky. Walking across the bridges, the biting January cold was easily forgotten as the soft crunch of footsteps on snow led from one world-class treasury to the next, offering a peaceful, unhurried refuge inside warm galleries filled with centuries of human history.
