Callout for Artists to share new work.
Application Deadline Monday 20 February 1pm.

"We're inviting applications from Circus Artists to share new work before an audience in our Studio in April. The scheme is open to Artists from all over the UK - and the four projects selected will each receive £1000 to help develop their project, rehearsal space here at The Lowry, and support from Lowry staff and Ockhams Razor."

"For our first Scratch Nights of 2023, we are pleased to announce our next call-out for circus artists to share new work as part of our Scratch Nights X Circus event on Wednesday 19th April at the Lowry. The event will be curated in collaboration with Turtle Key Arts and Ockham’s Razor."

NEW PUBLICATION - and what a cover photo!!! - by !

What is circus? What makes circus so popular across different times and media? And why does it live on despite being repeatedly declared "dead"? These are some of the questions explored in a new interdisciplinary book on the cultural productivity and relevance of circus performance. The edited collection emerged from an international conference on circus aesthetics in 2016 and contains 26 chapters by eminent and emerging scholars from different fields (German/English).
