The peregrine falcon - its beauty and elegance have fired people's imagination since ancient times. The famous behavioral scientist Konrad Lorenz called it the "bird of birds“ - flight speeds of over 300 km/h make it the fastest creature on this planet. Because of its extreme adaptability, its range extends around the globe, across a wide variety of climatic zones....therefore it was a tragedy that in the mid-1970s it was considered extinct in large parts of central and northern Europe. But in recent decades, populations have recovered, thanks largely to the tireless efforts of volunteer conservationists.

I had the opportunity to observe a breeding pair in the Palatinate Forest raising their chicks and I took pictures of people who care about them. „Falco lives“ - currently my pictures are published with a reportage of Andreas Beerlage

Das Wandern ist des Müllers Lust" / for the OutdoorExtra and currently published magazine, Manuel Andrack shows us the way to happiness. On the hiking trail Bauerbach 111 we hike in the Saar-Mosel area. At the end, we'll be rewarded with home-brewed beer. Cheers!

Sweet little cutie /wilderness@home / the reason we find European hamsters so cute is probably because they remind us of our childhood, even though they are about the size of guinea pigs........ What many people don't know is, that these cute animals are highly endangered and therefore on the Red List of strictly protected species. Around Mannheim however live one of the largest species in Germany

Flirting bee-eaters / wilderness@home / On a beautiful afternoon at the end of May I watched the bee-eaters together with Thomas . We had a great time! The light was excellent and the birds came very close. When I reviewed this series of images in the field, I actually thought I had screwed up because I had used the converter unnecessarily. But later on the computer, this picture turned out to be one of my favorite images of this summer. What do you think?

northern wheatear / wilderness@home / I had the privilege to observe this rare species on a fallow in the vineyards, just because my friend came down from Münster, to visit me for a weekend. He had competently and intuitively located the site, where they live. In the whole of RheinlandPfalz there are only 150-400 pairs left, which come here in summer to bread, before flying south again. The birds were probably habituated to people and vehicles by the workers in the vineyard. We spent a very entertaining afternoon together, watching a male feed his young and being able to photograph them for hours from Olaf's car, obviously without disturbing them.
