I was lucky enough to work on several films as a boom operator, with Tatort: Murot und das 1000-Jährige Reich being my final project.
During that time, I developed a passion for set photography.
I bought my first Leica — a Q2 Monochrom — and started bringing it to set, since I didn’t have much time to shoot in my free time.
There, I practiced the approach I would later pursue in street photography: shooting from the hip using zone focusing.

Even today, whenever I have the opportunity to work on a short film, I really enjoy documenting the shoot. My colleagues appreciate it — and I do too.😀✌️

Someday I want to put together a zine with all the photos.

Unfortunately, you’re not allowed to bring a camera to a concert. We all know that. Even if the Leica M looks rather unassuming.
For a few years now, smartphone photos have started to look pretty good too. To my surprise, it actually depends on the app. The pre-installed iPhone camera app takes good pictures in everyday use. However, I’ve managed to get better results with the Leica Lux app. I’ve been using the basic version for free for a year. No subscription required. Please keep it up.

That was my video submission for Summer Camp 2025. My goal was to earn a spot at Tom Sachs’ Mars Yard 3.0. The film wasn’t screened at the festival, but I still achieved my goal.

Today, all the photos are from Frankfurt.
The first one was taken while filming at the construction site of a new subway line.
As I was walking by, I took another shot of my new favorite reflection.
But even aside from that, this is my favorite spot in Frankfurt. There’s always something new to see.

That was my week. Street photography in Vienna, in Darmstadt, and promoting our short film at the Lichter Filmfest in a few days.

I also saw Kill Bill at the theater, listened to a great Leica podcast with , and started reading the new book “Udo Fröhliche” by . In between, I was out and about on the streets of Frankfurt and took a few shots—results to follow.

Time to go back home. A quick visit to Vienna, and then it’s time to head home. We’ve seen the Daido Moriyama exhibition and other great shows. See you soon, Vienna.
