Ever walk into a place and feel like you’ve been there before? It took me a few minutes and WHOA! It was like the 80s in Jean & Irving’s home, the familiarity coming from book, Pictures from Home. When I returned to NYC I pulled it off the shelf again. I was reminded of the masterful way he mixed text and image, the tension that occurs when photographing the intimate relationships in our families, and the conflicting feelings when trying to say more with your own story.

I photographed Elisabeth for over a year for my 2022 exhibition highlighting affordable housing. My focus is always on the people I photograph and I’m fortunate to form lasting, enriching relationships with them. Elisabeth’s joy and warmth are infectious. SHE is amazing and works hard every day. I’m so proud of her!
