Dane Vetter - Fotografie Hallo, ich bin Dane Vetter, Jahrgang 1984 und seit 2008 Hobby-Fotograf aus Leidenschaft.

Ich stamme aus einem kleinen Ort namens Jestetten im Landkreis von Waldshut-Tiengen, Baden-Württemberg. Ich war immer schon ein visueller Mensch, habe viel beobachtet, Bilder in mich aufgenommen. Ich beschäftige mich mit der Fotografie, weil es mich fasziniert, Momente festzuhalten und eigene Inszenierungen in Bilder umzusetzen, oder einfach Dinge abzubilden, wie man sie sonst nicht wahrnimmt. Die Zeit lässt mir nicht immer die Möglichkeit dem Hobby nachzugehen, aber ich nutze so gut es geht jede Gelegenheit, um den Auslöser zu drücken. Ich bewege mich sehr experimentell in verschiedene Richtungen der Fotografie, und versuche so viel wie möglich auszuprobieren und neue Erfahrungen zu sammeln, und das auf verschiedensten Gebieten. Ich fotografiere gerne Landschaften, sei es in freier Natur, oder in urbaner Umgebung. Das lässt sich gerne mit einem weiteren Interesse von mir perfekt kombinieren, dem Reisen sowie meinen Bezug zur Natur. Ebenfalls gehören Stilleben sowie Tabletop-Fotografie zu meinen Favoriten, was sich auch gerne mal mit meinem Interesse an Technik und Basteleien kombinieren lässt. Die allseits bekannte Porträtfotografie übe ich auch gerne in verschiedenen Bereichen aus. Hier habe ich Spaß am Umgang mit Menschen, sei es gestalterisch in einem Shooting, oder als stiller Beobachter auf einer Hochzeit zum Festhalten von besonderen Augenblicken. Und wäre das alles nicht schon genug, so hat mich nach vielen Jahren dann auch noch die Astrofotografie in den Bann gezogen. Mit verschiedenen Teleskopen versuche ich in klaren Nächten, dass schwache Licht von unvorstellbar weit entfernten Objekten im Universum auf Fotos zu bannen. Die Fotografie ist für mich ein so vielseitiges Handwerk, welches viel zu bieten hat, und in dem ich immer wieder neues Erlebe was mich bereichert.

Three different views of the partial solar eclipse on August 12, 2026. ☀️🌒

The first image shows the Sun in H-alpha, revealing the structured chromosphere, filaments and a prominence at the solar limb.

The second is an inverted H-alpha version. Reversing the tonal values brings out many of the fine structures differently and gives the image an almost relief-like appearance.

The third image was captured in white light. Here we see the photosphere, the visible sunspots and the sharply defined silhouette of the Moon crossing the solar disk.

Three very different looks at the same moment, each showing a different side of the Sun.

Solar Eclipse 2026 🌒☀️

A timelapse of the partial solar eclipse on August 12, 2026, seen from southern Germany, together with a short behind-the-scenes look at the setup.

With around 90% of the Sun covered, the final phase close to sunset was especially impressive.

For the close-up sequence I used my Lunt LS100MT in H-alpha with a ZWO ASI183MM. In parallel, a Canon EOS R5 with the RF 100–500 mm and 2× extender captured the eclipse in white light.

The very low solar altitude made the conditions challenging, with strong atmospheric turbulence and unstable seeing, but also gave the final crescent a very special appearance.

Captured on 05 July 2026 in the early morning hours at 04:44. Besides Saturn itself, Titan, Rhea, Tethys and Dione are also visible. There are actually more Saturnian moons within the frame, but they remain invisible due to their low apparent brightness.

Even though Saturn is still not particularly high in the sky at the moment, it was nice to capture the ringed planet again after a longer break. With the visible moons around it, the scene feels especially interesting to me.

On May 26, 2026, I captured my first successful ISS transit across the Sun.

This image shows the International Space Station crossing the solar disk during a transit lasting just 0.9 seconds. Besides the ISS silhouette, the Sun's chromosphere reveals a wealth of detail, including filaments, active regions, and prominences along the solar limb.

A brief moment, but an unforgettable one.

This composite image shows the ISS at multiple positions along its path across the solar disk. Also visible are several sunspots and the fine structure of the Sun's photosphere.

My first ISS transit across the Sun ☀️

After years of checking predictions, it finally happened. On May 26, 2026, the ISS crossed the Sun in just 0.90 seconds. 🛰️

I captured the event with two setups at the same time: one in white light and one in hydrogen alpha. Two very different views of the same incredibly short moment.

White light shows the transit clearly across the solar disc, while hydrogen alpha reveals the dynamic structure of the Sun’s chromosphere.
Definitely one of my most exciting solar captures so far. 🌞

A journey through Abell 1656, the Coma Galaxy Cluster ✨

This field contains well over 1,000 galaxies, located about 320 million light-years away in the constellation Coma Berenices. Many of the tiny, faint patches visible in the video are entire galaxies, each containing billions of stars.

NGC 4395 – a faint spiral galaxy full of H-alpha regions

This deep view shows NGC 4395, a low surface brightness spiral galaxy in Canes Venatici, located about 14 million light-years away. At first glance it appears faint and diffuse, but with enough exposure time its loose spiral structure and many active regions become visible.

The red and pink areas in the galaxy are H-alpha regions. They mark clouds of ionized hydrogen where young, massive stars are forming and energizing the surrounding gas.

For this image I combined RGB data with a large amount of H-alpha data to reveal these star-forming regions more clearly.
