Join me in taking another look back in time! 10 years ago, I explored this abandoned tank regiment of the East German Army. Unfortunately, we didn't get to explore all the areas of this huge place, because at some point either a local farmer, who was using parts of hte grounds, or a security service (we didn't bother to check which one) came looking for us, so we had to end our visit earlier than expected. I even remember a car following us for a few kilometers after we had left...
Still - this was a pretty cool exploration together with my good friend Lost Places in Schleswig Holstein und Umland 😍

In early October 2020, I went on a tour together with my very goof friend Lost Places in Schleswig Holstein und Umland to explore a few military relics in eastern Germany. It was such a beautiful day, and on our way, we made a quick stop to check out a historical landmark - the mausoleum of a local noble family. Of course, this doesn't really qualify as an abandoned place, but I still appreciate the historic and architectural value of places like this - and this one was really beautiful, I think😍

In March 2021, we explored an abandoned brickworks in eastern Germany. About 30 years of decay have taken their toll on the old buildings, but the long history of this place, the changeable weather and a few interesting perspectives made for a nice little exploration😍

Here's a quick look into a huge abandoned communications bunker from the Cold War📹 It was the Soviet Armed Forces War Broadcasting Center in Germany and was intended to coordinate the 1st Western Front in the event of hostilities with NATO.

Today, I began editing the photos from our Easter Weekend Exploration 2023! Our first stop was an abandoned Danish military base that has gained a certain amount of international "fame" because its swimming pool was used as a filming location for the Netflix series “The Rain.”
Needless to say, the swimming pool was the main attraction - but there were definitely a few other things to see as well.

NEW GALLERY UP!
By now, most of this Soviet barracks in the German city of Weißenfels has been demolished and redeveloped, but during the Cold War, these barracks - originally built by the N***s - served, among other things, as the headquarters of the 11th Guards Missile Brigade of the Soviet Armed Forces in Germany.
In 2022, we managed to explore a couple of the few remaining buildings that were still standing at the time.

This gigantic abandoned chemical factory was used as a set for movies such as "Inglourious Basterds", "The Monuments Men" and "The Hunger Games" and for shows such as "Homeland" and "Dark". We first visited this amazing place in 2013, and now I am celebrating the tenth anniversary of our second visit in 2016 with a re-edit of a few shots I took back then.
Looking back, this is still one of the coolest locations I've ever explored🤩

From a modern sand-lime brick factory to an abandoned industrial ruin – and now, a new residential neighbourhood.
Built in 1964, the factory in Lüneburg-Häcklingen once played an important part in the region’s post-war construction boom. By the time I explored the site in September 2020, production had long been over. Rusting machinery, empty halls and overgrown buildings were all that remained.
Five years later, the industrial site has disappeared – and a new chapter is taking shape.
These photographs capture the factory in that brief moment between its industrial past and its future: already history, but not yet gone.
