analogueNOW FESTIVAL 2026
From May 8 to 10, 2026, Berlin becomes a vibrant hub for analogue photography.

The festival and exhibition, presented by the collective analogueNOW, bring together photographers, collectives, and photography enthusiasts from the city and across Europe to connect, share experiences, and explore creative practices together. Furthermore, the festival offers artist talks, photo walks, and meet-ups to everyone, regardless of experience level, creating space for exchange and dialogue within the analogue photography community — and reinforcing Berlin as a lively European hub for the scene.

EXHIBITION
Room for Doubt

As part of the festival, analogueNOW will present the exhibition “Room for Doubt” (May 9 – June 19, 2026, Fotogalerie Friedrichshain), which celebrates the experimental spirit of analogue photography, such as trial-and-error, open-ended outcomes, and the creative potential of uncertainty. It invites viewers to question assumptions, rethink perception, and embrace doubt as an essential part of artistic practice.

Dabei geht es ausdrücklich nicht um eine strenge oder akademische Kritikrunde, sondern um einen offenen Raum zum Ausprobieren, Teilen und Weiterdenken. Das Publikum ist ein wichtiger Teil davon – durch Fragen, Gedanken und Gespräche entsteht der gemeinsame Austausch.

We are excited to be part of this year’s edition of the European Month of Photography () with an exhibition in cooperation with Kunstbibliothek ().

Engaging in dialogue with the exhibition “FOTOGAGA. Max Ernst and Photography”, currently on view at the Museum für Fotografie, our exhibition “Surrender to the Dreamers” explores photography as a medium able to transcend the limits of the visible, venturing beyond mere sensory perception to unveil the hidden and conjure unfamiliar visions.

April zeigt die Sonderausstellung ‘ANALOG TOTAL‘, im GRASSI Museum für Angewandte Kunst Leipzig , zeitgenössische Fotograf:innen und Künstler:innen aus der ganzen Bandbreite der analogen Fotografie. Begleitend zur Ausstellung organisiert analogueNOW! Workshops und Vorführungen am 2. und 3. April. Es werden sowohl Basis Workshops zum Einstieg in die Dunkelkammer Arbeit angeboten, als auch spezial Workshops für unkonventionelle Verfahren und Techniken. Durch die Kooperation mit dem Grassi MAK können wir die Workshops zu sehr günstigen Preisen anbieten, dadurch sollen die Angebote für noch mehr Menschen zugänglich werden. Zusätzlich zum Workshoppreis muss ein Museumsticket extra gelöst werden.

Up until the 3rd of April, the Grassi Museum for applied arts presents the special exhibition 'ANALOG TOTAL' featuring contemporary analogue photographers and artists. The exhibition shows a wide range of analogue techniques and processes. Accompanying the exhibition, analogueNOW! will organize workshops and presentations on April 2 and 3. The available workshops will include basic courses for darkroom printing as well as special workshops for alternative photography processes and techniques. Thanks to the cooperation with the Grassi MAK, we can offer workshops at very affordable prices, way below the regular fees. In this sense, we want to open the program to a wider audience. The only catch is that you will need to purchase a museum ticket extra.

The Finnish Darkroom Association Will hold a Symposium for Artistic Research in Analogue Photography as part of their Festival in March 2022! We love this concept and we wanna encourage every researcher to join this open call as a step to put our common goal, the conservation and development of analogue photography, on an academic level. Researchers, artists, university students and academics of all ranks are invited to join the call.
