When I was 7, I wanted to be an explorer.
Camera in one hand, climbing mountains, saving endangered species, discovering lost cities, photographing wildlife and becoming kind of like the love child of Steve Irwin, Indiana Jones, Lara Croft and David Attenborough.
Then life happened.
I wanted to be a writer, a WNBA player (despite being 1.60m), a track & field champion, a finance bro, a teacher… but never a photographer. I couldn’t even imagine that one day my photos would pay my bills or allow me to build a business.
Ironically, photography led me to people instead of animals (because, let’s be honest, brides usually pay better than pandas). And I genuinely love documenting human stories.
With a little break in wedding season, I finally upgraded to the Nikon Z8 and took it for a test at Zoo Berlin . I spent hours learning about the conservation work happening there, waiting for tiny moments, fighting reflections through glass and shooting everything with just an 85mm lens.
And I remembered something I kinda forgot. Photography is fun.
It’s okay to step outside your niche. It’s okay to create just because you’re curious.
One day, I hope I’ll photograph these beautiful animals where they truly belong, in the wild.
Until then, I’ll keep chasing that little girl’s dream, one adventure at a time. 🤍
